Women Occupying Wall Street (WOWs) invites you to the 4th Feminist General Assembly (FemGA) on Saturday, August 18th at Harlem Meer from 2 - 4 pm. This month our conversation will focus on the struggles particularly important to people of color. We hope to begin the work of planning actions focused on racial, gender, and economic justice. We are committed to addressing the issues that affect us all, and we are eager to work in affinity with other groups towards common goals.
We plan to have discussions about:
- Living wage
- Domestic work
- Immigration
- Educational system
- Reproductive rights
- Incarceration
- Queer Issues
Everyone is invited! Allies are welcome! We welcome organizations sharing proposals for ongoing or new actions that promote gender justice and equality!
For more info, check out the Women Occupying Wall St Tumblr and Facebook pages.

I'm sorry I have to disagree with this part of the movement. We should never focus specifically on races gender or colour but on simply humanity. The only reason racism/discrimination continues is because it is pointed out continuously. If we focus on simple human rights maybe one day we will earn the right to more.
10/24/2012 Never is an absolute term. We are ultimately one race of humankind, but we should not be liberal and colorblind. There are cultural differences that we should applaud and that make us more diverse and interesting.
The concept of distinct races of people is a social invention, not natural to humanity. Nevertheless, there are 'racial' considerations that people have that cannot just be explained away nor should we pretend to be blind to the perceptions of others. For example, the White race, the Black race, the Brown race and the Yellow. These are superficial labels that we put on each other, yet they do exist. How many White people did the KKK lynch?
Thus, we cannot be blind to the influence of superficial racial differences. We are not now all one united people, despite any New Age distortion. Naturally we should strive for oneness as an endangered species.
