My husband and I are parents to two girls. We are both employed with health insurance. Our youngest daughter has severe disabilities. She requires 24/7 nursing care just to survive. Our insurance will not cover this, because state insurance is supposed to cover it due to the fact that she is considered permanently disabled. The governor of our state announced Medicaid cuts that he PROMISED would not affect the elderly or infirmed. The cuts were supposed to only affect adults with no children. THE GOVERNOR LIED. My daughters nursing hours were cut by 2/3rds. The state says that she does not need all the hours of care because she is stable. SHE IS STABLE BECAUSE SHE HAS THE NURSING HOURS!! We are fighting the decision. If we lose the appeal I will have to quit my job to care for her. We may be forced to sell our home. We may be forced to live on public assistance. My daughter’s condition could worsen because of this. My daughter could die…….. WE ARE THE 99%!!!!!!!!! occupywallst.org
