I just attended an event where we had a dialogue between college students, professors, and occupiers in DC; there was a lot of interesting conversation

but what I observed is that the movements need to have more specific and unified goals. They lack cohesion as they are going in all different directions. I think there needs to be concrete, practical, feasible and sustainable solutions to current social issues. Below are links to a social movement that I believe give us this direction for positive change. Please check it out and watch the movies, ask questions, spread awareness, and act!

i agree that it is very difficult to change a culture of individualism to a more altruistic one. but we should look to those countries that are more community oriented like Japan

Why do occupations "need" to do anything other than what they are doing? IMHO what OWS as a movement needs is more. It needs more and bigger General Assemblies, more and bigger occupations, more and bigger and more successful encampments. Once we have at minimum a general assembly in most of the county seats of the nation will be time enough to talk about a next step. Until then we are really far too small and insignificant to be taken seriously about anything.

You guys are back, fantastic. Occupy must be picking up momentum. Nothing says the 1% fear you like seeing the 1% trying to dilute your numbers with nutters. Good luck with that.

The different forms of socialism all look great on paper, but depend on a level of cooperation between people and altruism that just doesn't exist.

OWS is evidence that people can get together at least to voice out their problems. if we could get together to also implement what needs to be done to stop the cycles of debt and scarcity that we're creating, this world would be a better place. and this is not just being idealistic or utopian, we're already assembling, we just need some direction and take the next step to phase 2.
