I would first like to say that I do not believe in demonizing police. MANY of them are in the force for a noble reason, and do want to protect people and their rights. Unfortunately, a small percent of them give the whole group a bad reputation. Even more unfortunately, the ones who are in the force for the wrong reasons have shown excessive violence over the last few months, injuring countless protesters. SO HOLD THEM ACCOUNTABLE. This article is interesting to consider. It outlines why you should take legal action against cops who use excessive violence against peaceful protesters. We hold you to a higher standard because we have to trust you with more power. Live up to the standard of a REAL cop, and protect those you've sworn to protect.

posting videos like the one that made it on salon will do more to hold the police accountable than anything else. on individual basis sure, take them to court. but remember that it isn't the courts that will strengthen this movement. focusing on legalities is wrong headed, you're trying to seek remedies from a system that is already stacked against you. more creative ways to counteract police criminal behavior like the videos is what people should be focused on.
