If you want to find out what really happened to our economy and your jobs watch this video taped back in 1994 when a man named Sir James Goldsmith came to America to beg congress not to get us involved in world trade. If you watch this video you will see how right he was, because virtually everything he predicted has come to pass. Please click on the following link and watch the video you will be enlightened. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4PQrz8F0dBI

"If you move a factory from the states and take that to China just to re-import the goods here simply to get cheap labor. What does that tell your workers? You're too expensive. You want money. You want safety. You want unions. You want holidays. Forget it. We can hire people over there who don't get any of that."

And then that happened. Great interview.

GATT and NAFTA fucked this country up. Mass outsourcing followed. Union busting followed. Etc etc.

Thanks for the post. I got his book on my wait list.

I've heard plenty of people that discredit GATT saying it was signed a long time ago. What these guys dont realize is that its been revisited a lot over the years, but the 1994 version was the one that completely unchained the banks to go nuts. Cant exploit people without the money.

Once again all roads lead to the banks.

Banks got bailed out, we got sold out.

Merry Christmas.

Nice! I'm going to the mom's here in about 2 hours. Just thought I'd read up on some info to start my day.

Did you see John's post about FOIA docs and the FBI labeling OWS domestic terrorists?

Ya, OT posted it too. Hard to tell if its all real or not, or just more internet spamming.

"The internal papers were obtained by the Partnership for Civil Justice fund via a Freedom of Information Act Request. The fund, a legal nonprofit that focuses on civil rights, says it believes the 112 pages of documents, available for public viewing on its website, are only "the tip of the iceberg.""

Hmmm...interesting. I know theres a spot about snipers wanting to assasinate OccTampa members.

They used to fly their helicopters right over our GAs. And I always loved seeing them across the street from Curtis Hixon Park.

They also blocked out the part where they stated a name that was leading OccTampa. Would love to know what name they decided on that was our "leader"...haha...

Snipers? What?

We had police drive by every 30 minutes.

They even escorted a protest once.

There were a few cops who respected our rights and one who actually backed us on the first day other officers tried to kicks us out. But I always knew the drive bys they did were surveillance. and eventually they did kick us out and arrested 3 people for protesting after 11pm.

GATT and NAFTA are treason. World trade is based on the false economy of oil.

The perfect opposite can be created by people and corporations working for sustainable consumerism. It's a weird angle but maybe more our style.

Smart people working in corps and consumers, decide that a limited number of technologies will meet human needs in a sustainable fashion. The people in corporations introduce the corporation to the market and consumers work with them to refine the products, systems and methods.

Current products, systems and methods are slowly abandoned because they cost more in the long run. Decentralization is critical. We need to work with corporations to see that the knowledge needed to use technologies becomes more and more local.
