Ha-Joon Chang

“Suppose that a new CEO arrived in a company and said: ‘I am a great believer in market forces. In this fast-changing world, we should not have a fixed strategy and should maintain maximum possible flexibility. So, from now on, everyone in this company is going to be guided by ever-changing market prices, and not by some rigid plan.’ What do you think would happen?”

('23 Things', p. 207)

Exactly what is happening now, everyone in this company would become technologically unemployed including in the end the CEO, or the company will disintegrate trying. Either way nobody will 'work' for the company. If the company survives, it will work for everyone, which is what a 'corporation' was intended to do. Your government should work for you, your house should work for you, your computer and cell phone should work for you, your transportation, your garden/farm should work for you. How do we get all these things to work for us instead of the (backwards) other way around? By ensuring our education works for us. Welcome to the 21st century. Here's the key. Ask yourself, is your education working for you or are you working for your education? If it isn't working for you, then you must protest. How? Petition the government for a redress of the grievance, that should suffice if your government is working for you. QED
