Somewhere far from NY, in a small house, out in the woods, far up in Scandinavia, I am spending the night writing a PM to my professor about this movement.
I read your arguments. I can see how you get upset now and then. How some are frustrated cause they want everything to happend in one day, how others talk about patience.
I would like to remind you to take a breath, before you scream.
I speak as a peorson from outside your country. We have seen from outside, how your inequalities have grown, how your politics and media is something but a circus that from outside, looks I am sorry to say, more than bizarre. I have been to your country and experienced your system of health care. It made me want to adopt all my american friends and take them under my wings... far away from the US. Cause i love them. I want to know that when i am far away and they get sick or injured, they will be able to afford health care. Something will pick them up. Don't get me wrong. There is sooo many things about your country that I love. The kindness and openness of your people most of all. And so much inspiring creativity comes out from you and .. when your people move like you do now, like you did during the 60s as well, then the whole world moves. But sisters and brothers, the system of your nation is a plague. To everyone on this planet actually.
Cause the fact is that, it is up to you more or less. I come from a small country, even if we would transform our whole society into a sustainable nation in every way, it wouldnt mean shit to the planet. We simply don't have votes enough. We are too small. My vote does not make any difference in that way, cause what happens to my country depends on what happens to yours. For instance, only your president can make the Kyoto protocol reality.
And while he doesn't, nations sink, and others dry out.
We dont have time to wait any longer.
There must be a change and it must be global and it must be led by YOU, the people of the US. Cause only you have the power to take away the power from the ones who have the power over us all right now.
But we are here, the rest of the world. We have been waiting for this to happend. We support you and we would like to share the dialog. We will all do what is in our power to do, but again, your voices are the key to a global change that MUST BE.
But don't get me wrong, I don't want you to haste. Don't ask for it to happend over a night. We have had enough of short sighted decisions on this planet. We have had enough of voices that screamed just to be the loudest scream. What we need now is dialogue. Dialogue. Yes exactly that, what we are doing right now at the moment. Here in this second, THAT is what is the big thing about what is now going on. That people are actually talking about politics again. And not only home at the dinner table. People are actually seeking other people to discuss solutions with, with the stranger at the square, with some one across the nation, or across the ocean by the web.... THAT ladies and gentlemen... is the big thing.
Cause maybe we dont have to invent ALL the wheels again. If we open our ears and reach out and listen. There are sooooo many different cultures on this planet, there is as many ways to live as there is people. I am sure that among all of us, is something, one little piece of experience that fits into the new puzzle we all desire to build... But for that once again, we must keep our ears open. We know what happend in most cases of the history when everyone turned to one man for truth...those who didn't died. Or the movement died.
Dont throw the chance away by rushing. You know. This might be our only one.
The capitalist system demands speed. It demands of things to happend NOW NOW NOW, and what doesnt happend NOW will never exist.
We do exist. And if we want to break that system, break it as well by not answering its demand for things to happend faster than they should.
If you want to change your political system, you do it right now by staying out of it.
The most important thing we have if we want this movement to make a real change, is to continue to be a movement that embraces everyone. A movement that is bigger than left and right. Left and right was the plague of last century. Let's move on now. Our only chance is if we stop divide and categorize. We don't need to do that. It is only a habit of shaping simplicity within our brains. But the world isnt simple, it is more complicated than one person alone can imagine.
So, I just wanted to thank you all for participating in this movement. It still has potential of becoming something important to people all over the planet. But for to become that, I need us to stop yelling at each other for small matters in opinion. Opinion is always opinion. Never truth.
We are in this together. And i will sum up by reminding you of the words from a young girl who survived the massacre on the Island Utöya this summer, where about 76 young kids who supported the social democratic party of norway were shot down in cold blooded murder by one man filled with nationalistic hate.
"if one man can do this much evil, how much good cannot all of us do together?"
and think about how many billions of billions of billions of options through evolution, that the universe had to create another planet, another species, another society than the one we live in, are we gonna satisfy with this?
but again. give it some time, for dialogue and thought. When spring comes, I am sure that in my little ice cold nation, people are gonna start camping, young and old.
Luckily the holiest of laws in this country, the only one every one knows by heart... is the law that says you can put up a tent anywhere you want. On anyones property. I wish you would have had that law in the US right now.

Don't listen to the hater below. He thinks Germany is in scandinavia evidently. :0. I'm afraid that is what we are up against. Anyway, thank you for your thoughtful and supportive message.
Thank you for this beautiful post. We need all the support we can get. And we will win this! It is just a matter of time.
THANK-YOU. For your words of beauty. But I would like to disagree. You say that you cannot make a difference? I say you already have. I say YOU should be commended. THANK-YOU.
With love from across the pacific!

' been to Sweden. Gone camping there. Beautiful country, beautiful people. Thanks for the thoughtful words. I hope others take note.
Born in Sweden. Left when I was 7. You made me nostalgic. ~Hej
Nice post. Some good points and insight in there. Occupy solidarity from Canada.
Thanks for the words of encouragement from Scandinavia.
I bet your educational system is better than ours at teaching people to think creatively. Here in the US they use education as a means to make workers ready for a job. If we could educate our children to have a critical thinking process then we might have a chance but instead the average US citizen is more concerned about television shows like Dancing With The Stars, and Jersey Shore. The bulk of people in the US have been dumbed down to where they don't even know what they need or want, they are simply told and they suck it up.
The US will not change, unfortunately, because we are always being divided by race, beliefs, income disparity, politics, and any other way conceivable in order that we do not look at those who really run the show. We have the men behind the curtain, pretending to be the wizards of Oz, who tell us to ignore them.
Your country sounds like most Americans want this one to look like but there has been so many years of these greedy bastards controlling the system that I have doubts it will ever change without violence. If we are effecting the rest of the world so greatly then countries from around the globe should begin to put pressure on the US. If the US is causing global problems due to the financial systems that have been set up then find out who these people really are and issue warrants for their arrest, one country after another.
I honestly do not see a solution here any longer. Those in control are deeply entrenched and will not leave easily. Greed has become the rule of this land and it will eventually bring the world to its knees.
As you look out at your country be thankful for what you have because it may be gobbled up soon by a corporation.
Thank you ...
Sweden is a terrible country. Cold people, stupid people. No brains. Go away or kill the courts that wanted Assange for rape. Fuckhead swedes.
Shut the fuck up I don't listen to Garbage, your nation sucks and nobody cares what you think, why don't you elect hitler again. Nazi. MY grandfather fought you bastards
i'll dig up your grandpa and fuck him in his ass
If dog shit were brains you would be a genius. Try reading a book on history and geography; assuming you can read.
