The militarization of the police didn't happen out of nowhere. Suppression of dissent - the strategy book for that was written a while ago. At UC Davis and Portland and other areas around the country, #OWS is seeing the applied results of longstanding suppression of minorities and the financially insolvent.
Can historical racism and classism please, please be part of the complex of issues that #OWS is attempting to address? Can there please be some recognition in the suffering of the past, when the 1% were consolidating power by whipping up neighbors against each other by exploiting lines of color and class?
