Here is a little hard truth. We have more homeless right now and those that seem to have no problem if they live or die. Winter is coming.

[-] -3 points by yobstreet (-575) 11 years ago

Here's another hard truth: many who have homes are going to freeze to death because they can't afford Obama's fuel oil or his electric rates.

[-] 1 points by GirlFriday (17435) 11 years ago

You are going to have to bring more to the table. :/ You should know this by now.

Risk Factors for Hypothermia-Related Mortality

During 1999--2002, a total of 4,607 death certificates in the United States had hypothermia-related diagnoses listed as the underlying cause of death or nature of injury leading to the underlying cause of death (annual incidence: four per 1,000,000 population). Exposure to excessive natural cold (International Classification of Diseases, Tenth Revision [ICD-10] code X31) was the underlying cause in 2,622 deaths. Hypothermia (ICD-10 code T68) was the nature of injury in 1,985 deaths with underlying causes of death other than exposure to excessive natural cold (e.g. falls, atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease, or drowning).

During 1999--2002, among those who died from hypothermia, 49% were aged >65 years, 67% were male, and 22% were married (compared with 52% of the overall U.S. population) (2). A high proportion (83%) of the hypothermia-related deaths occurred during October--March (Figure 1); these deaths occurred in all 50 states during 1999--2002 (range: four to 288 deaths per state), with the highest average annual rates per 100,000 population in Alaska (4.64), Montana (1.58), Wyoming (1.57), and New Mexico (1.30) (Figure 2). Most deaths were not work related (63%); 23% of affected persons were at home when they became hypothermic.

Now, we are talking.

That is what I am concerned about as well. Every year we have people that die both with housing and especially the elderly on a fixed income but those that do not make the media (homeless). Now, there were those that were dying with living quarters before Obama as well as homeless.

[-] -1 points by yobstreet (-575) 11 years ago

Of the 13 that died of hypothermia in Chicago in 2011, I believe twelve were homeless.

But, you know, when you command both our domestic and foreign intelligence services, and the largest military in the world, you are not only capable of discovering the cause of high prices, you are also fully capable of ensuring an affordable price. A lot of these deaths are directly attributable to the negligence of Presidents.

Negligence of government and the fact that the people have opted out of taking up their responsibility in guiding/directing their government.

No, not the negligence government - the negligence of Presidents - Obama could drop the price of oil with the snap of his fingers, and then he could set out to ensure that it will always be affordable - forever - but he hasn't done that.

[-] 0 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 11 years ago

You would have the president bypass government? What? You want a Dictator?

No it is the Peoples fault for opting out instead of getting involved - locally and nationally and in world wide activities as well.

[-] -1 points by yobstreet (-575) 11 years ago

Listen, we go to war and kill hundreds of thousands or people over this resource, we take American lives and then hand them the bill for taking their lives for this resource.... you're GDamn right I would.

Gas and fuel oil are entirely on Obama.

war violence gives us political leverage also and promotes our international arms sales

[-] 0 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 11 years ago

You are truly daft.

[-] -3 points by yobstreet (-575) 11 years ago

Bush did it... it took him less that two weeks to drop the price of oil.

Listen, until you make it profitable for the wrong people to do the right thing, the right people will never do the right thing. And the right thing is this case is keeping energy resources affordable in this country. It's not watching old people freeze in their homes or watching young people contribute large portions of the food budget to their daily commute.

[-] 1 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 11 years ago

You are a rock head and worthy of pity.

[-] -2 points by yobstreet (-575) 11 years ago

I don't know if you've noticed but I don't have too much use for you, either.

[-] 2 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 11 years ago

No shit Sherlock - you are a shill who would like to go around spewing shit without being called on it.

"Bush did it... it took him less that two weeks to drop the price of oil."

I would love to see a detailed breakdown of this nonsense. If you are talking about his "announcement" of offshore drilling...

Say what you want but this definitely happened. And let's face it, this is the most powerful country in the world; if we say we're drilling, we're drilling... if we said gimme, they'd give.

[-] 1 points by GirlFriday (17435) 11 years ago

You have to get the homeless into housing first. You don't have that. Funding was cut at the federal level and the state level.

You need to look at the ICC.

[-] -1 points by yobstreet (-575) 11 years ago

I know, a lot of programs have been cut. It started the beginning of 2009; we're not sure where that grant money is going.

[-] 0 points by Builder (4202) 11 years ago

Does anyone know the budget for the FEMA camps?

Remembering what a "great job Brownie" did in New Orleans, why does FEMA even exist?

[-] 1 points by yobstreet (-575) 11 years ago

It exists to enure that everybody who responds receives proper racial sensitivity training. Right?

[-] 0 points by Builder (4202) 11 years ago

The FY13 budget request reflects approximately $6.1B in funding for the Disaster Relief Fund, which supports a significant portion of the total Federal response to presidentially declared major disasters and emergencies.

We have combined duplicative programs, such as the pre-disaster mitigation grant program, to create greater efficiency.

FEMA just won't help the poor.

March 16, 2012|By Alexandra Chachkevitch | Tribune reporter

Last week, the Federal Emergency Management Agency denied the state’s request for federal assistance — a need estimated at around $9 million in grants and low-interest loans for repairs and temporary housing, among other things.

A massive EF-4 tornado struck on Feb. 29, killing seven people while demolishing scores of buildings and damaging a medical center.

Quinn said the appeal, which was supported by Sens. Dick Durbin and Mark Kirk and other federal and local officials, included additional information about the tornado’s damage and the socioeconomic status of the affected areas.

As officials continued totaling the damage after the state’s initial request, they learned that 440 homes had been damaged or destroyed in Gallatin, Randolph, Saline, Union and Williamson counties, according to a damage assessment by state and federal agencies.

“[Agency officials] don’t realize the severity of the damage,” said Quinn, adding that he hopes to receive a determination on the appeal “as soon as possible.”

Quinn said the most damaged areas, Harrisburg and Ridgway, are also among the most economically challenged in Illinois.

FEMA is a beast in the making...

We rounded up the Japanese after Pearl Harbor like animals. This time it will be even easier.

[-] 1 points by Builder (4202) 11 years ago

It's certainly a top-heavy beaurocracy.

The alphabet-soup orgs in America are sucking up all the cash left after corporate raiders are finished chowing down on it.

[-] -1 points by hchc (3297) from Tampa, FL 11 years ago

Just like you cant help someone who doesnt want to help him/herself, its hard to imagine a plan of action taht would work with a population that refuses to get involved and start really thinking.

I hate to be such a downer on here all the time, but I do a ton of actions/campaigns, and honestly, the vast majority just dont give a fuck.

Take 3rd parties. Over half could care less. The other half, they either tell you you cant win, your platform is bullshit, it doesnt matter, or you are a traitor because it resembles something similar to theirs.

except most have a camera and access to world wide publishing

[-] 0 points by Builder (4202) 11 years ago

I'm wondering how people will react to having that kind of access denied or withdrawn. Perhaps losing that would be the catalyst to wake the masses.

The only stupid motherfuckers here are you and your fucking piece of shit PR firm. You keep thinking that you will win. The only thing that you are going to win is out of a fucking job. You bitches are done on November 6. Really you are.

So, when you fucking pull your head out of your asses and are ready to deal with the issues we can talk. Otherwise, go back to fucking your mother.

Such an angry little Obama troll, you try so hard to act like your objective but you just can't hide your pro Obama 1% support for long can you? Like I said good luck with stupidity, are you going to cry if your guy Obama dose not win in nov?

[-] 3 points by GirlFriday (17435) 11 years ago

I can't wait until you are unemployed. This is going to be great fun to watch.

[+] -4 points by podman73 (-652) 11 years ago

Off topic but ok..... I learned long ago if you work for others you will never get what you think you are worth so I started my own business and there were many times I couldn't afford ramen noodles but I was smart and frugal an now I do very very well for myself and I know I could lose it all tomorrow by my own stupidity or someone else's and I would would start over. Nothing in life is guaranteed and anyone who promises you different is lying, something you dems never understand.

[-] 4 points by GirlFriday (17435) 11 years ago

I am not a dem, bitch. While you were busy trying to figure out ways to act like a jack ass, I majored in poly sci. I know how the fuck to be objective. I know what I am looking for.
