Forum Post: Why we DON'T need a new site that silences trolls - Good Read

I truly believe Government spam cells were the reason for the Can Spam act of 2003, agents purposely spammed peoples email box with crap which wasn't even marketable to outrage the public so the Government could get the ball rolling on legislating the Interest.

Agent trolls are the next big thing and this so called internet bullying phenomenon that has been popping up on the Nightly news lately. Sure trolls maybe be a hassle to deal with but they are not interrupting our lives if ignored.

Same for this forum, once moderators start silencing.. Who will be considered a troll to be silenced? If you are a person who occupies many forums like I do, you will see that the forums that regulate trolls and spam are the worst form of moderators and post to be on.

It is than given the power to the moderator to decide who is and who isn't a troll and in many cases that I have witness the power is abused.

Personally I don't want a moderator banning me for trolling because it doesn't fit his or hers agenda. Nor do I want to go with the cattle on how I should speak and paraphrase information.

Do you realize they have made posts of the posters they don't like invisible to all but the poster? They did it to me on my original moniker. I do not post anything except what I consider logical retorts to discussions. It is rather juvenile and I imagine I must have embarrassed one of them - I am not a troll and actually agree with many of the OWS sentiments. However, I have a very low tolerance for uniformed posts, which must have made one of them mad. For instance, a poster who said he lives in China and is freer there than here, I responded with a post about the recent imprisonment of two writers in China who blogged about injustice. I can see the post when logged in under my old pinker moniker, but when logged out, it's not there.

They also deleted the post from a gentleman (?) who said he could help them set it up so that "trolls" could see their posts, but not others.

Anyway, this is a fact and speaks volumes about who is running this site and free speech. "No rational debate for you!" And yet, the anti Semitic posts remain. Makes you wonder who is really running things here.

Seriously, do you really find utility with the likes of this:

For the most part, I do not believe in conspiracies but ilk, like the poster above, are starting to persuade me otherwise.

It there is that much of a concern about the "trolls" on this site just ignore them. Eventually they will go away. By bringing this subject up time and time again only encourages them to participate because they know they are getting to you.

Moderation would greatly improve this site. They simply have to stick to the forum rules. Delete spam and the posts of conspiracy theorists, and you already have 90% of the crap off this forum.

It's always leftish sites that call for censoring, their ideas don't respond well to scrutiny so better to call people trolls and block them than deal with the reality of their thoughts.

The left doesn't have conservative counterparts, they have enemies, there are simply no competing ideas to them, just lies that the "others" tell. When they get out of the bubble and have to deal with competing ideas they get get nervous and repeatedly call for silencing the "trolls" because of the discomfort alternative points of views bring. There can be no truth but their truth, whether it's true or not.
