Hi,
I already donated food to Occupy Portland, and $75 to Occupy Wall Street. I would like to donate again to support your generator bikes, but I am concerned about the lack of transparency.
Lack of transparency is part of the reason that Wall Street bankers have been able to screw the American people, and I do not want to see this in any movement that opposes it.
You have, what, hundreds of people there, and many committees? Why not have a "Transparency" link on your home page that details all of the meeting proceedings and all of the finances. All the money coming in and going out, and where. I know this would be time-consuming, but what have you all got but time?
Sincerely,
Winter

That's awesome. That is exactly what I want to see, only more obviously displayed and with a finer granularity of detail. But this is a wonderful start. I just wish the email I had sent OWS had been answered, rather than my having to also post on this forum.
I don't think they have anyone authorized to answer emails.
Wait, are you serious? Because that would be ridiculous, in terms of motivating people to support their efforts. Nothing demotivates me like having my questions about how I can help being ignored.
I'll put it this way: I have no idea if I'm serious. I was certainly making a joke, and yet it's funny because it's true.
I can tell you for a fact that if you ask how you can help, they will tell you "do whatever you are capable of doing." Which is why I've stopped donating time or money. That, and I don't much feel like propping up an anarchist commune with no forward purpose.

I agree. There should be a website for making donations and tracking exactly where that money goes. I know this is possible. I am a web developer. But I am too busy
I'd would donate under those conditions.
As I am I, trying to work as much overtime as possible, in part so I can donate more money to beneficial causes. But from what I understand, there are hundreds of people camped out at OWS, and I imagine some of them have the skills necessary to throw up a form that allows the finance committee (I assume there is one) to account for all the money.
Well apparently there has been some conscious decision, a willingness to "hang together" is decidedly non-productive. Which begs the question, what to say of this thing of "strength of conviction..."
any chance to get a dig in huh? "strength of conviction" pfft let's see you camp out overnight night after night in the cold and the conditions they're living under?
Are you suggesting they are all "homeless"? When it gets to the point that they start rummaging through dumpsters, then perhaps they will at last find the courage to ask, "Why?"
Bigot.
Bitch.
These are not people without income.
