Forum Post: Why not occupy GM & Chrysler

Why is OWS not going after these two company's?? They both got bailouts that they did not fully repay and they are screwing the American taxpayer. Currently the taxpayers own 26% of GM, yet they are building a mega plant in China and recently gave their unionized workers a 5,000 bonus for signing a new contract. Where's our payback???

These companies are in the business of manufacturing as opposed to corporations in the financial business. China is a huge market.

Compare bonus/compensation for workers with the handouts at Goldman-Sachs.

I think most people have voted with their money. Hardly anyone buys GM and Chrysler junk anymore.

"Hardly anyone buys GM and Chrysler..."

laughably inaccurate. you have no idea what you're babbling about.

Lots of people buy their products. Don't forget, the US isn't the only place that sells their cars anymore. GM is constantly in the top 10 with at least three cars. Chrysler, on the other hand, different story.

Because the bulk of them aren't smart enough to figure out who to be mad at. Chrysler changes hands too much. This is the eighth GM plant in China, BTW(still hurts to see Made in China under a Corvette). As for the signing bonus, that's what you get under any company when you sign with them. Not 5 grand, per se, but something. On the other hand, I wouldn't worry too much about their bonus (which I think they deserve) anyway: http://www.mlive.com/news/flint/index.ssf/2011/11/gm_workers_who_owe_child_suppo.html

GM did not pay all the money back yet and still owe the taxpayers. They claimed they have though and they took the money to pay us back out of an escrow fund setup by the Govt.
