They're not "the rich." They're not the "powerful." They're normal, middle-class citizens who just want to keep things safe. Outside of New York (where practically everybody was rude), the police officers I've come into contact with (even during traffic stops) have been polite and professional, trying to do a good job. Police aren't the enemy unless you make them your enemy.
The idiots who are having trouble with the police are the same people who are acting like degenerates. The NYPD isn't some oppressive force; they're just trying to keep things sane.
