I agree with Ron Paul up untill his worship of Ronald Reagan. Everything that is going on with the banks(deregulation) and the wars(Reagans support of Bin Laden and Saddam and Kaddafi) dates back to the Reagan Era. Our nation debt grew 1000 fold under Reagan and he killed all the solar and wind energy funding.

The road to hell is paved with good intentions. In theory, Reagan's idea of less government interference sounds good and he hoped that by freeing up corp money that it would help the economy but I fear that he was being naive perhaps due to his alzheimers. The man was an artist, a poetry writing romantic, probably not a greedy malicious man like GWB who exhibited sociopathy as young man. GWB gloated on the executions of others while governor, GWB tortured animals as a child and he seemed to arrogantly take pride in lewd and unsophisticated rhetoric while representing the USA. I really don't think that Reagan intended for corporations to abuse deregulation as they have. It's a shame that we can't trust those with the most power to uphold their responsibility to serve this nation in a responsible and ethical manner but that's the way it is. handing people freedom on a silver platter seems to beget greed and abuse. When our current politicians speak of less government, they need to clarify what they mean. I'm all for less government in my bedroom and in my doctor's office but I believe there is a necessary role for government in corporate regulation. Certainly Ron Paul is well aware of the corporate corruption that has destroyed our economy. This type of corruption isn't anything new though. It's just that it became noticeably painful to everyone in the country. Ron Paul is so hinged to the constitution that he can't compromise between constitutional ideals and reality. It's as if he really believes that if he were elected that he could wave a magic wand and change the current character and mindset in America today. It won't happen because you can't make anyone, especially a corporation, grow a conscience without a heavy hand to force them. We need someone with a conscience, integrity and good character to run this country and then the rest will be history.

Here's the standard way to look at national debt size -- ratio it to the contemporaneous size of the economy: http://homepage.mac.com/ttsmyf/debtGDP_whys.gif It rose a good deal under Reagan. Some say that the following, near bloodless end of the Cold War was much-helped by "we outspent 'em". I don't know ...

I have a friend who had part of his face bitten off during that near bloodless end of the Cold War. He stuck a knife throw the guys eye and he's crazy as a moonbat.

Good old Reagan. Respect you veterans. Bring them home.
