"The prevailing assumption on the Left is that Obama has good intentions. He intends to the Right Thing – or, at least, he intends to do better than the Republicans intend to do. It’s all supposed to be about intentions. Let’s be clear: There is absolutely no factual basis to believe he intends to do anything other than the same thing he has already done, whether Democrats control Congress or not, which is to serve Wall Street’s most fundamental interests."

I agree we cannot fathom Obama's intentions nor do those intentions whatever they be matter. What matters are the political and cultural climates- how the election will impact those. Are the gay bashers going to be crowing or crying? Are the Koch brothers and Adelson to be celebrating their power or cursing their misspent mega millions? Is the Democratic base - which is almost identical to the Occupy base- going to be disheartened or energized?

Has anybody ever considered that the Conservative has more in common with the black "plight" in America than the Left does? They are predominantly white, middle aged, educated, affluent, white people... they do metro three days a week and spend the rest of the week in the leisure of pristine New England neighborhoods. They have an agenda; the conservative has no agenda beyond self preservation... and they employ a facetious dynamic of capricious vitriol to brand anyone who does not immediately fall in line, even the African American himself in the form of a very successful Clarence Thomas or a Herman Cain, as "racists" - they're going to eat Obama, too.
