The CEOs that have been feeding off us having been hiding behind the veil of capitalism. "If you are against unfettered corporate greed, you are against capitalism." goes the argument, knowing that the majority of Amercians consider themselves to be capitalists. So why are we feeding right into their hands by continually saying that we are anti-capitalism? Who needs Fox News when we are doing more damage to ourselves than they could ever do? Are there any amongst us that don't have good friends that work for a corporation? Do you think that they are any less betrayed by their executives than the rest of us are? If we are ever to be successful, we MUST differentiate between capitalism and greed. Otherwise, we will never move beyond crank level in the US. Can you bear to hear the cackling from the country club as they crack up over how we defeated ourselves?
You don't need money to be happy. Suicide rates are highest at the rich level.
I couldn't agree more. But the CEO of my company will NEVER have enough money, no matter how many people's lives he destroys. And he gets away with his criminal behavior by claiming "I am only maximizing shareholder value". Of course, he then ignores the majority opinion of those shareholders that he is so concerned about when they vote against him at the AGM. These people are parasites that are destroying the future of America in order to build their own wealth. Do we want them to get away with that?
