Forum Post: Why Are All These People Snapping

A few possible questions to ask ourselves:

  • Is our culture and desire for self respect through material goods placing too much pressure on us/.

  • Is there something in the water?

  • Is our diet of manufactured and boxed junk destroying our brains?

  • Could the fact that 80% of the country is on drugs, and if they seek help the solution always includes drugs, be having the reverse affect?

I liked the part of the nurses speech where she started talking about how people used to fight with their fists, and now they shoot each other up. I thought she was going in an interesting direction with that, and of course MSNBC cut it off and moved to something else.

I'm not sure if these mass shootings are happening more often now or we just have quicker and more efficient news transfers. I mean, the time where the Kennedys, Malcolm X and MLK all got murdered was probably pretty insane. Shortly before that we were in WWII.

But these seem to be semi-"normal" people going off the deep end in a very profound way. Not targeted assassinations (although thats still happening-

So what in the hell is going on.

In general, we live in a very sick society, with many ills. That doctor was heading in the right direction, and yep, they cut her off. She was much too profound for MSM.

[-] 2 points by TropicalDepression (-45) 10 years ago

People hear this stuff on the MSM and have no concept of reality in that every day in a place like DC, nurses deal with people whose lives were taken by someone else.

Every day, here in Florida, 3 people take someone elses life. Get so upset that they kill them!! 3 people per day, just in our state.

[-] 3 points by beautifulworld (23771) 10 years ago

There are many causes to this, but one big giant one is the greed that spews out of a capitalist economic system and the alienation it causes. We are disconnected from the things that really matter in life.

[-] 1 points by Builder (4202) 10 years ago

Or, too connected to too much grief and violence.

Being able to access news from everywhere, people focus upon one extreme or the other.

Shut that idiot box down, be selective with internet news feeds, and focus on your own life, and that of the people close to you, who's lives affect you.

I agree. We do live in a sick society. The stress of modern living takes a toll. Most jobs these days are pressure cooker type environments. Even getting to and from work is hard on people. The world spins faster. Everything is in your face every second of the day. Trying to meet all the expectations for living in a modern world give people heart attacks every day. Add poor diets, no exercise, 24/7 news, cell phones always stuck in your ear; with no time to decompress.

I didn’t pay much attention to this sort of thing before I retired. I was just another drone peddling faster, trying to keep up. After I retired I started to notice how hectic people were. Always in a hurry, always walking fast, talking on the phone while also talking to someone next to them. Hurry, hurry, hurry is the way we live.

It’s a tragedy these shootings occur. But it’s also surprising people aren’t jumping out of windows and in front of trains every day.

It doesn't have to be this way.

I just watched this video and it's spot on. I'll have to take a look at "sacred economics", but what is shared in this video is the outcome of an alternative that could work for America and the world. It's called "Copiosis". I see a huge synergy between what the video is talking about and what Copiosis produces....Amazing video for sure!

[-] 0 points by Narley (272) 10 years ago

I’d like to believe the video was truth. But I’ve not seen it. Maybe I’m overly cynical, but I lived through the peace and love sixties, and I’ve watched OWS for over a year. I’ve seen very little love or concern as described in the video. I wish I had, but any message of peace and love is drowned out by the anger, hate, frustration and even violence. Just look at the posting of this forum as an example of how tight people are wound up.

I wish it weren’t so. I wish you were right, That is doesn’t have to be this way. But I have to wonder if in fact does have to be this way.

[-] 3 points by beautifulworld (23771) 10 years ago

That video is the truth of how it CAN be. Everyone has to consciously make the choice of love over fear.

[-] 0 points by Perkygrubb (2) 10 years ago

I think it doesn't have to be this way too. But "love" is not the answer. I think what we need (and OWS and the Tea Party are initial salvos) are organized groups of people saying as much. But what we need even more than that is a viable alternative to Western capitalism. There are a lot of addictions Americans generally have, but our addition to Western capitalism is our greatest. Until we offer a better alternative, we're stuck with these consequences.

[-] 2 points by TropicalDepression (-45) 10 years ago

Its a constant bombarding of how pathetic we are, and how wrong we all are, and how if only we had XYZ our lives would be complete, etc.

[-] -1 points by Narley (272) 10 years ago

Sadly I've recently come to believe society may have to crumble before things get better. Humankind can not tolerate the current conditions indefinitely without the lid blowing off.

Sorry about the "stinkle", I'm just learning this forum :-). I agree with you Narley. Living in Western capitalism is stressful, harried and pulls on people to act in ways that don't support human connection.

The reason is the move to entropy, chaos, by all systems.

[-] 0 points by RobertHod (1) 10 years ago

The NWO is working up to martial law. Strife creates desperate violence and stresses that people do not know how to cope with.

Psychology was the first target for the CIA because their preferred form of secrecy uses the subconscious mind.

[-] -1 points by shoozTroll (17632) 10 years ago

What's an "NWO"?

News

With

Odor

?

Sounds like FLAKESnews, or maybe prisonplanet to me.

[-] 0 points by RobertHod (1) 10 years ago

Go away agent.

[-] -1 points by shoozTroll (17632) 10 years ago

Agent who?

Are you saying you endorse the Old World Order?

[-] -1 points by RobertHod (1) 10 years ago

I've seen your posts, you are not accountable or resposible to support what you write.

I am.

http://one-evil.org

[-] -1 points by shoozTroll (17632) 10 years ago

So then you are saying you endorse the Current World Order?

Or do you endorse evil, in it's religious constructs?

How does all that fit into the reality of this........

http://occupywallst.org/forum/of-alec-the-nra-and-big-money/

[-] -1 points by RobertHod (1) 10 years ago

Your intentional misinterpretation marks you as an agent. Go away.

[-] -1 points by shoozTroll (17632) 10 years ago

No misinterpretation involved.

I merely asked for YOUR definition of the NWO, a favorite of Alex Jones fans everywhere, yet vague in it's reality.

The NRA is perhaps one of the most proven proponents of an NWO, and I just wanted to know how you feel about that.

And really, if you are against an NWO, just what are you for?

[-] 0 points by RobertHod (1) 10 years ago

I gave a link in answer and it is fact agent.

[-] -1 points by shoozTroll (17632) 10 years ago

Gosh.

I'm just asking you to explain how this......

http://one-evil.org/content/entities_organizations_new_world_order.html

Fit's in with the reality of this......

http://occupywallst.org/forum/of-alec-the-nra-and-big-money/

Because I'm just not seeing the correlation in your responses.

[-] -1 points by RobertHod (1) 10 years ago

The NRA is media theatre which keeps agents like you lookin legit asking stupid questions.

[-] 0 points by shoozTroll (17632) 10 years ago

So your knowledge of the NWO is innate??

You feel it needs no further explanation?

I completely disagree.

Would you at this point, please explain it's tie ins to the Illuminati?

http://readersupportednews.org/news-section2/318-66/19443-navy-yard-gunman-said-to-be-troubled-veteran

This is what happens when the Department of Veteran Affairs ABANDONS the wrong Veteran. People DIE.

13 deaths at the Navy Yard, and SEVEN THOUSAND a year to suicide.

ALL blood on the V.A.'s supremely incompetent hands.

[-] 2 points by TropicalDepression (-45) 10 years ago

Theres a simple solution- stop sending people to war to murder people and see the very worst of humanity.

[-] 0 points by RobertHod (1) 10 years ago

Yes, very un American.

Of course it figures in a military that fears command more than they love the constitution they swore an oath to defend from domestic enemies.

Our medical system is so effective at treating symtoms, it pushes the disease to the very fringes of the world: alcoholism in the American Indians and the mental instability of the homeless.

Consider in reference to socialized medicine: total disaster.

There is no scientific model for consciousness, btw, because you can't build a model upon the ephermal.

[-] 1 points by MattLHolck (16833) from San Diego, CA 10 years ago

use a black box

create input and measure response

[-] 1 points by dreamingforward (394) from Gothenburg, NE 10 years ago

That was Skinner's idea, but that resulted in an inhumane psychology. As soon as you evaluate the results and put a label on it, you've tried to "box-in" the psyche, and it will eventually jump out of it.

It can't be avoided -- psychology as a science has made the world neither more sane nor more ethical. It should, instead, be re-classified as an art, not a science.

[-] 1 points by MattLHolck (16833) from San Diego, CA 10 years ago

art is the process of creature for expression

i know consciousness exist outside of me because people have ideas and expression i do nor originate

[-] 0 points by markyleaveastone (-24) 10 years ago

Yes, as an art, at least until the day neurosciences can adequately explain exactly what is going on in the brain. Then psychology will have some science to build upon.

[-] 1 points by MattLHolck (16833) from San Diego, CA 10 years ago

we can discuss non physical ideas like numbers

just because a perception does not have a physical basis doesn't make it not real

[Removed]

[-] 0 points by dreamingforward (394) from Gothenburg, NE 10 years ago

No, not even then. Because the reality will always jump out of the box. We're not robots.

[-] 0 points by markyleaveastone (-24) 10 years ago

I'm not sure we really know exactly what we are. We could very well be nothing but a series of interconnected neurons functions under complex algorithms. Perhaps not. Hard to tell what the future will hold for a field like psychology. Certain, I think trying to define it now is somewhat presumptuous and dangerous. It's always better to let the future happen than to try to pin it down before it does.

The media? Or just right wing talk shows?

Theres 16k murders per year in this country. The vast majority could give a shit who Beck is.

[-] 0 points by shoozTroll (17632) 10 years ago

The level of HATE emanating from that style of show is unprecedented.

It's market penetration is HUGE. Meaning you don't have to listen to any of them to feel what they are preaching every single day.

and then there's these guys.

http://occupywallst.org/forum/of-alec-the-nra-and-big-money/

How long have you been ignoring their efficacy?

By the way.

Did you follow the money in N. Carolina yet?

Nope...........You didn't.
