You are aware that Bushs patriot act allowed for "domestic terrorists" to be detained indefinitely? Also places like Gitmo have existed for quite a while? One of the biggest disappointments for me w/ Obama was when he signed the extension to the patriot act. But the patriot act was OK w/ most americans.

Well, right this minute, he is the only one that can veto the new Nazi bill recently passed in the Senate. I don't know about paying attention to him, but, making it known that if he doesn't veto it will certainly result in bigger problems, for him, other than merely not serving another term.

A candidate should be capable of logical thought. No, it shouldn't take a rocket scientist, but it should take someone capable of thinking along the same principles of the scientific method. Acting based solely on ones belief structure, especially when those beliefs have no basis in fact is not only wrong, it's stupid. You don't have to be perfect to think and act responsibly. When a candidate is obviously as stupid as the GOPs current crop, you're asking for trouble. 1+1 should usually add up to 2. However, when you have a deliberately obstructionist congress, and voters, the entire system falls on its face. It doesn't matter who you have as president then. Read some Thomas Jefferson sometimes. Smart cookie, and a republican, but far from perfect.
BTW, a rocket scientist doesn't have to be that smart either. Also Richard Feynman did a great job in his field, and he only had an IQ of about 125.
