Right now we are letting insane people define us by saturating the start of new threads with absolutely crazy stuff. GA get a grip. This has to be addressed.

There is a method to their madness, it's just so well hidden it's almost impossible to see. Cunning actually. What better way to get an ACCURATE breakdown of the general populations' mindset than an unmoderated (or barely moderated) forum?

As long as you take your stats from the number of posters rather than the number of posts. The trolls, especially paid ones, may go to the trouble of registering many times to skew the stats, as well as posting short inflammatory posts to disrupt. Good stats without some means of vetting aren't possible.

That's true and I don't know how the people monitoring this forum will be able to distinguish the "wheat from the chaff" but I hope they have the resources and web savvy to get an accurate picture. My comment stems from a rather vague response I got a few days ago from someone that seemed to be, based on his comment, one of these monitors. It took me a couple minutes to realize what he was saying; I had to "read between the lines." It made me think they are indeed watching (and not moderating) peoples' posts and responses for the purpose of compiling some sort of demographic information.

I don't think they are. And I don't think there is a way to get valid data of a system that has NO means of validation in it. Garbage in, gar.... When you registered what information did you provide to prove you were a specific individual? And what would prevent you from registering a new "name" and another, etc.? See what I mean?

Oh yeah. There's definitely people on here using multiple names. Then there's the possibility of using bots. I have no clue how they could get accurate data. I'm like you, I don't think they can. But that reply I got was, well, very puzzling. I've got an analytical mind, not saying I'm a genius or anything, but when I see or hear something that doesn't on it's surface make sense, the wheels in the back of my head start spinning, trying to decipher it. Not sure what to think of this site. Being the "official" OWS site, why isn't it monitored. That's my biggest question.

I was concerned when I saw so many threads being started that were obvious troll posts. At the sme time I was seeing very thoughtful new ideas. in the threads that were never picked up on and used to start new threads. I thought, now this doesn't make sense. Are there monitor trolls? Troll moles?

Something weird. So I registered at the Multitude http://www.themultitude.org/forum/ucp.php?mode=login And then I went to Occupy Resistance http://www.occupyr.com/ and registered there.

They both seem to have less of what we are concerned about on this one.

I am abandoning this sinking ship. Do whatever you think. If you figure out this mystery let me know.

Oh yeah, I've been to themultitude a couple times and plan on going back. I haven't been to occupyr yet but plan to soon. I've also noticed, today especially, that a lot more people are abandoning this site in favor of the two you link to. I too, will abandon ship soon. See you over there. Sure would like to figure out the mystery, though. I hate not being able to figure out the answer to a nagging question. That's why I have an extensive, and growing, collection of reference books.

See you there. I hate loose ends also. I have a couple of posts over there suggesting a new dynamic for physical occupation.

How about if you all go home from here?
