Forum Post: When profits replaced humanity

I wonder why the profit motive became so important to many Americans and how this greed motive led us down a slippery slope of cutting services, increased taxation, laws to protect the greed, Elitism, Police state, Wars for profit, not caring about the other, and the just plain selfishness that we now are seeing so blatantly being enacted worldwide.

Why do some of us have morals and a conscious. Yet the perpetrators yell the loudest about how sanctimonious they are and how much better they are than the masses.

What is the origin of the saying "he who has the gold makes the rules"

Anybody have a response?

Where the hell do you get police state from? I have morals and a conscience and I still like money.

Profits are the reson to be in business. If you aren't making a profit, you are a charity. And there's nothing wrong with either of those, by the way.

Its a bastardization of the Biblical Golden Rule of Love they neighbor is my best guess.
