At what point is the acquisition of wealth considered hoarding?

Depends on whether you are asking a progressive or a conservative.

You'd first have to define what you believe the word "hoarding" means in order to have a constructive discussion on it.

Go by the dictonary definition

Hoard: a supply or accumulation that is hidden or carefully guarded for preservation, future use, etc.

Then what we do with our museum pieces is hoarding. What we do with our libraries is hoarding. What we do when we put money in a college fund for our children is hoarding.

Don't waste my time with some bullshit. Find a child or moron that you can beat in a game playing/debate

I'm sorry. YOU chose the definition. And that definition applies to the things I listed does it not? If you don't like that, PICK ANOTHER DEFINITION.

It's apparent you can’t stand looking like an idiot, but it's done.

Ask a thousand people what hoarding means and they will all give you a similar answer. Yet you lack the ability to comprehend a simple dictionary definition.

Or is it that you want to have it defined to meet your criteria. Can you tell me what collecting is? Can you tell me what saving is? I know I’m throwing the hard ball questions at you now. But maybe you can call a friend.

I have very little concern for what you think I look like. Why should your opinion matter to me in the least?

I'd agree with you that collecting and saving could be considered "hoarding" according to your definition. Do you consider collecting and saving things to be the same thing as "compulsive hoarding"?

Let me ask your own question back to you. If you asked a thousand people what "saving" or "collecting" meant-would they give you an answer similar to the one they'd give you if you asked them what "hoarding" means?

If this discussion was meant to ask about saving or collecting, why did the original poster use the word "hoarding" ?

Fortunately each of us can choose that point Rather than have someone else (dems reps or someone like you) choose for us Gates and Buffett give a lot away now and probably were excessive hoarders beforehand

This is a difficult question. but I would say when you know there are people out there (mainly in you're own country),that are suffering and denied human privileges because of it. In the case of this country I would say paying around 38% income tax. Clinton's system was able to demonstrate this by the surplus created as well, the provision of basic services and programs to allow progress. Essentially the social economic conditions need to be monitored in order to assess if the standard of living is ok, after that people should be able to make all the money they want. However there should be limits to how much government should take Personally anything over 49% is too much. No one should own the better half of your money.

I would extend that concern globally but I do agree.

"the social economic conditions need to be monitored in order to assess if the standard of living is ok"

The problem is that the standard of living depends on the GDP which is a poor indicator of factors beyond money. e.g. car accidents raise GDP
