Forum Post: What might have been.....

Posted 9 years ago on March 14, 2015, 8:52 a.m. EST by factsrfun (8310) from Phoenix, AZ
This content is user submitted and not an official statement

This forum might have been a think tank for the people where we hammered out strategies to take down these 1% bastards, but instead it became a place to bitch about the democrats and any who tried to post in favor of doing something to change wealth inequality, have been shouted down and harassed.

No discussion of the real world and what is happening in America is allowed here, only if you attack the Dems will you be welcomed here. This forum has become a place for inaction, of complaining not doing, A place where people ask "Why aren't they better?" rather than "How can I make it better?"

It is a "movement" afraid to join hands with others for fear that they will be swallowed up, for many here it has become about their egos and not the nation.

mic check, mic check

I propose that OWS get off its ass and get to the voting booth and throw the damn Republicans out of office

Are there any opposed?

There are only a few left here now, I am totally open to any that would like to explain why it is ok to let the GOP win elections or how would they choose to prevent that, none have yet been willing to discuss this, so instead we exchange insults, I think some of those left really are just GOP supporters here to make sure OWS doesn't hurt the 1%.

even if we make it mandatory people to vote for one of two choices, is that going to be a real democracy?

We can renew democracy with below plan. http://www.initiativesamendment.org

a real democracy must decide what it wants

[-] 4 points by gsw (3406) from Woodbridge Township, NJ 9 years ago

Right on Matt. The corporat parties ignore the people's will. Take us to wars without legitimate constitutional or legal authority, Provide and install U.S. presidents and justices the people would not choose. Give us little choice, where is the republic envisioned by our ancestors? http://www.initiativesamendment.org/ Divide and conquer us, run up the national debt, and give the bill to the poor, the children, and reward the wealthy, with tax havens, and loopholes.

the framers of the constitution owned lots of land

the people do decide what they want every day, in 2014 they decided they wanted more Republicans in office

congress tells themselves many fantasies

[-] 1 points by factsrfun (8310) from Phoenix, AZ 8 years ago

people tend to do that whether they are in congress or not,

meanwhile the GOP pass laws to make the rich richer and money more powerful

while fantasies of white knights rushing in dance in the people's heads telling themselves none of it is real...

I do not recognize the GOP's/dems right to rule

[-] 1 points by factsrfun (8310) from Phoenix, AZ 8 years ago

Do you suppose if I don't recognize wealth inequality or climate change they will go away?

[-] 2 points by MattHolck0 (3867) 8 years ago

wealth inequality can certainly be adjusted

[-] -1 points by factsrfun (8310) from Phoenix, AZ 8 years ago

Yes and the GOP are already working to adjust it, and they have greater power to do so thanks to the efforts, (or non-efforts) of those who allowed them to win in record numbers this past Fall.

But hey at least your hands are clean right Matt? or are they?

[-] 4 points by MattHolck0 (3867) 8 years ago

that's right, I don't work to build weapons and bomb people

[-] -1 points by factsrfun (8310) from Phoenix, AZ 8 years ago

You don't do anything but keep your hands clean, do you?

The 1% thank you for staying out of their way and letting them do as they wish.

I do understand your position you feel that it is ok for the 99.999% of the world live in poverty, just so long as no one's fighting, if one person wants it all better to let them have it than to start a fight, though I do think people go to war too much, I'm not sure i could accept that just so as to keep bombs from dropping.

[-] 2 points by MattHolck0 (3867) 8 years ago

quit making up scenarios

[-] 1 points by factsrfun (8310) from Phoenix, AZ 8 years ago

I'm not "making up" anything you have clearly stated that you would rather serve a King than drop a bomb.

I get it you're a pacifist, no fighting no way no how.

What do you think about Bernie Sanders running?

[+] -4 points by factsrfun (8310) from Phoenix, AZ 9 years ago

you still think it's about some pretend rules? you don't give a damn when a Republican is shown in? are you really so stupid to think there is no difference or so full of shit that you don't think you have a responsibility to do what you can to make it better?

It is idiots like you debating how many angels can dance on the head of a pin instead of asking what can I do now to make it better? That is why we are in this mess when are you going to take your head out your ass talking "even if we made a rule..." stop talking like you rule the world and try to make it better.

here's another effort that would help a lot and it is almost there just needs a little more support:

another link to the same project

MSM coverage of the movement, say what you want about MSM but if you are serious about changing stuff it will be involved/alerted one way or another.

Edit: if you will like to see this site be more productive, as you proclaim in your own Original Post -- you might try to take the first step tonot cast insults everywhere

..........original reply here: The people support this by 70 percent, according to data in your link. Why don't your politicians give it to us?

My state is signed on. I support your effort.

You like to presume and put words in others mouths. I support you lesser evil arguments. http://www.initiativesamendment.org/

[-] -1 points by factsrfun (8310) from Phoenix, AZ 8 years ago

if I sound harsh it is because we live in harsh times, the "lesser evil" group slipped over to Nader and the Greens and gave us 8 years of W Bush and with the Arctic melting

http://nsidc.org/arcticseaicenews/

and Nader telling lies about no difference and fooling 5 million into helping put Bush into the White House and all, I guess I think things are sort of serious, so I have little patience for those like poster "flip" who right out said he liked it when the GOP win because more people get pissed off and it boosts his cause, that's some sick shit man

[-] 5 points by turbocharger (1756) 9 years ago

Occupy is pretty much dissolved into a bunch of offshoots at this point, seems how you are clueless as usual.

[-] 3 points by MattHolck0 (3867) 9 years ago

thank you

come again

[+] -5 points by factsrfun (8310) from Phoenix, AZ 9 years ago

maybe you missed the title or maybe you are that stupid, I'm going with stupid....

[-] 1 points by turbocharger (1756) 9 years ago

" I think some of those left really are just GOP supporters here to make sure OWS doesn't hurt the 1%."

That is speaking in the present.

[-] -2 points by factsrfun (8310) from Phoenix, AZ 9 years ago

Yes I was speaking of you turbo, not at all surprised you noticed, you are one of the most transparent of the GOP supporters you are a con through and through, here's a question I've been waiting for you to answer, now tell us what exactly is your problem with all the spending that's going on?

[-] 4 points by mdonelly (324) from Mineola, NY 9 years ago

Your thoughts are based on the erroneous assumption that the Democrats can save us, and that we can bring about the systemic changes that we need by voting in more of them. Occupy is responsilbe for changing the dialouge, and for spurring the rebirth of activism in this country, and perhaps the world.

[+] -5 points by factsrfun (8310) from Phoenix, AZ 9 years ago

Your thoughts are based on the erroneous assumption the GOP can't do that much damage before the system can be brought down. We can no longer stand by and do nothing while the GOP are elected. I also know that it is a ladder of power if we tear down one leg the whole thing will fall, but I don't need to know that to know the GOP must be ran from office.

You are simply trying to co-opt OWS to kickstart your dead Green Party or maybe it's worst you just want to feed your ego.

[-] 3 points by pigeonlady (284) from Brooklyn, NY 8 years ago

Now, as any properly fatalistic Occupier would say, our votes don't seem to REALLY count, do they? And WTF with the format of the site here, it's got no real actions or meetings listed? The LED seminar synopsis is the funniest satire of micromanagement I've seen yet. Anyone set up or forced to do a Sabu? what up, all?

[-] 2 points by factsrfun (8310) from Phoenix, AZ 8 years ago

Convincing people that their vote doesn't matter is the Holy Grail of power, if you can do that then you can do whatever you want with the government.

When Putin is counting the votes they don't matter for sure, so do you suppose that gives him more or less power?
