Forum Post: What makes me sad about Occupy

It's horrible to say, but when I think of Occupy in ten years, I'm probably going to remember Ron Lawl = Ron Paul and all the defecation jokes. This is one of the most beautiful movements to spring up in decades, and it's being tarnished by awful memes. I hope the supporters won't get discouraged. Keep fighting guys!

I don't think it's fair to remember Ron Lawl alongside defecation jokes. Same goes for Ron Lawl.

It's not a question of fairness. I have no control over the memory management functions in my brain. Ron Paul and defecation seem to stick the most, not necessarily together. Believe me, if I could go back in the past, I would probably not come to this website. Or, if I could deprogram my brain, I might try.

Your brain if more flexible than you think. I here we tend to suppress bad memories. I can't believe they really changed my spelling of Ron Lawl...

How did they change your spelling of Ron Paul?

[-] 1 points by HitGirl (2263) 12 years ago

Mine looks like Ron Lawl. Hey, why didn't yours get changed?

There's some Javascript code used for censoring Ron Paul's name. You can counter it by typing two spaces between Ron and Paul. Like so, Ron Paul.

It's really crappy because Occupy gave me the dream for a transparent government, but I lost that dream when I stumbled upon this type of censorship. If they get elected one day, what am I to expect? Double standards always scare me, but I guess it's normal coming from politicians. Nothing ever changes, does it?

I guess they are not big Ron Paul fans. Or maybe it's some kind of running joke.

I think they aren't as big on political transparency as I believed. Sad really.

Lawn Roll 2102. We have plenty of time!

There is beauty, and then there is the libertard co-option of beauty. So, memes will have to suffice.

This guy just told me he didn't know who RP was. So much for the "honest motives" of the RP front.

Why post twice? Should I answer again?

I honestly do not know who Ron Lawl is. I am from Canada and live in Indonesia. I don't receive much news from US. The only thing Ron Lawl represents for me at this moment is Occupy's lack of transparency and use of censorship. Sadly, this really put a dent in my trust in Occupy.

Wow you're a really big supporter of sombody you don't know, that's a new angle!

I don't support Ron Paul in anyway since I don't even know who he is, and I cannot vote in US since I am a Canadian citizen.

Like I said, Ron Paul represents Occupy censorship for me. That's all he represents, and I'm truly sad to say it because there was a time I believed in Occupy. I had a dream that they really wanted transparency in the government, but I don't see how I can believe that know.

How do you deal with this double standard? I find it truly bothersome that it doesn't bother Occupy supporters. Don't you care about political transparency?

i will remember the anger and potential getting hijacked by a has-been reporter that defected to canada and a failed day trader that used america to lash out at a system that failed him. i will remember that just like during the civil rights protests, people love to hate for the sake of hating. i will remember the people that wanted to lead the change, hid behind a curtain. i will remember a presidential candidates name being censored but not hate speech.
