A great man? Jimmy Carter launched the US' "covert" war in Afghanistan to drive the USSR-backed progressive government out of power - a government that was trying to end such barbaric practices as the "bride price" and the enslavement of women! The "victory" of the U.S.-backed Islamic fundamentalist forces in Afghanistan brought about a long period of terror for women in Afghanistan that has not abated to this day. Carter - a "born-again Christian" - also helped foster the rise of US Christian fundamentalism and its religious bigotry as well as the anti-woman "pro-life" movement against abortion. Carter is a war criminal who has done some decent things in his life, but nothing that can expiate the crimes he and his fellow Democrats commited against the working class in the US and around the world while he was U.S. President. He is ESPECIALLY repulsive when he poses as a champion for women's rights!
