Forum Post: What if this movement started a new populist party?

Considering that we have people supporting this movement that are not registered Democrats but instead are from all over the political spectum. I myself, an Independent, with some conservative, some liberal views. However, I do support your movement. It is time to take back the American Dream which is being robbed right before our very eyes.

This is just an idea I am throwing out there. What do you think about forming a new populist party (People's party)?

if we get money out of politics, all politics would be populist. this is another distraction.

Great idea, as long as we don't hire some bible-thumper with a "free silver" message, (like William Jennings Bryan). It would have to be a little more focused than that.

Exactly, but we need a comprehensive strategy that implements all our demands at the same time, and although I'm all in favor of taking down today's ineffective and inefficient Top 10% Management System of Business & Government, there's only one way to do it – by fighting bankers as bankers ourselves. Consequently, I have posted a 1-page Summary of the Strategic Legal Policies, Organizational Operating Structures, and Tactical Investment Procedures necessary to do this at:

Thank you for replying to my post. I will be checking out those links.

I can't wait to see the finalized list of demands and the comprehensive strategy to implement them.

According to a 2008 article by David Rothkopf, the world’s 1,100 richest people have almost twice the assets of the poorest 2.5 billion (Rothkopf, 2008). Aside from the obvious problem – that this global elite has their hands in everything from politics to financial institutions – …

To the extent that we, the people, are removed from control over our lands, marketplaces, central banks, and media we are no longer empowered. In practice, those few who do control the land, central bank, media and "free market" are the real rulers of our corrupt and declining "democracy."

Due to propaganda from a corporate-owned and edited media we are kept from knowing, much less debating, the nature of our system. Due to a central bank owned by bankers, media owned by a few global concerns, and trade regime controlled by global corporations (i.e., one designed to remove the people from control over their markets and environments) the vast majority have become little more than latter-day serfs and neo-slaves upon a corporate latifundia.

To restore a semblance of effective democracy and true freedom Americans, and people around the world, need to re-educate themselves as to the true nature of their political and economic systems. Toward this end, OligarchyUSA.com is dedicated to providing old and new information, books, links, reform ideas and debates not easily found or accessed today in establishment media.

OligarchyUSA.com is but one more site and sign of the times as ground-up counter-revolutions arise around the world... all in response to a forced and freedomless globalization of a ruling global elite perfecting their top-down plutocracy and revolutions of the rich against the poor. In short, democracy is no longer effective today. For this reason, it is toward a restoration of truly effective and representative democracies, and natural freedom, that this site is dedicated.

Thank you for replying to my post and for sharing your thoughts and all these links (which I will be viewing shortly).

I agree we need to restore an effective democracy. We need to get all the lobbyists out of D.C (stop having big corporations throwing money at and buying out so many politicians). This is one of the reasons I have lost faith in the two party political party. Those who truly represent the American people in D.C. are too far and few in between. We need radical change. Richard Gates who posted previously is absolutely right when he said that if we get the money out of politics, all politics would be populist. There within lies the problem.

And yes, it is disgusting how the media is covering O.W.S. Anything to discredit it. It is sooooo obvious that they are corporate-owned. However, they will not silence our voices, we are the 99% and we will not give up!

Oh, BTW here is a scary article I stumbled upon that got me really thinking--just how close are we to this becoming a reality (U.S. becoming a third-world country). This is an eye-opener. http://www.activistpost.com/2010/08/10-signs-us-is-becoming-third-world.html

Thanks once again for responding to this post.

when things crash as they surely must unless we change course absolutely, we will become a third world country fer sure.

[-] 1 points by Windsofchange (1044) 12 years ago

Richard, I think differently than most people. My post was absolutely not meant to be a distraction, just another idea-that's all. Btw, look at my other post about a commentary from WPIX's Lionel. I think it would be helpful to the cause if we got more specific about who the greedy banksters are. Go on to the WPIX site and you can see his commentary for yourself.

I know that there are those who are disingenuous posting here--however, I assure you that I am not one of them.

Unfortunately third parties are dangerous as well. It gives the elite the ability to split the popular vote depending which way they want the election to lean. They have us in a pickle. Two more parties would be more effective I believe. A little harder to manipulate the vote. Do you agree?

[-] 1 points by Windsofchange (1044) 12 years ago

Yes, you have a very valid point Steve. I am happy that O.W.S. movement has been established. I am absolutely disgusted at how the media is covering it and how you guys are being labeled anti-Capilistism. How people can turn a blind eye to the out of control corruption on Wall Street and within Corporate America and call that capitalism at work just boggles my mind.

This is my first time on this site, so I haven't gone through all the threads posted, but have you guys thought of doing a huge March/ Protest event in D.C. I think that would be a great idea in addition to what you guys are doing right now. It definitely get all those critics of the movement who say that O.W.S. really should be in D.C. protesting to shut up. Just a thought.

I'd consider it. Just don't call it a union.
