my daughter, starting her first full year as a K-12 teacher, posted the following on facebook. I echoed it at agkaiser dot org.

It's unbelievable when you have to teach children to be kind. That really says a lot about today's society and how parents are teaching their children when they are young.
When I was growing up, we never ever had to have anyone tell us when we needed to be kind or considerate to anyone - we weren't brought up with that mindset.
We were brought up to respect people regardless of who they were or what they had. We weren't brought up to be vicious and hate mongers.
I'm one of a kind.
