Forum Post: We should have a separate forum for ideas of actions only (physical, political, legislative, ect.)

Posted 11 years ago on July 9, 2012, 12:40 p.m. EST by know1 (210)
This content is user submitted and not an official statement

how can we proceed and take full advantage of the incredible attention givin to OWS

The people who r responding, so far, r not understanding the post. Its not asking for ideas for action, its asking if people would like to log on to a site where they wouldnt have to sift through many, many posts to hear what action people would like to take

we need to formulate some plans and quick. A separate place for only ideas for action would make it readily apparent what ideas we have

It may also urge some people to think about what they would do

these wouldnt necessarily have to be good ideas, it could involve brain storming

but just to seperate it out from news, oppinions, storys ect.

I wana hear what people wana do, A new world

It's easy enough to set up a forum. Here's a blank canvas, if you're keen to get started. PM me for the admin login, and then you can change the password, and take it over. I gotta go earn some money for a few weeks, so I'll see what I can do when I get back.

[-] 1 points by know1 (210) 11 years ago

[-] 2 points by MattLHolck (16833) from San Diego, CA 11 years ago

link it back from the topics it links to

keep it active

[-] 1 points by wallywally (5) 11 years ago

Good idea to split this forum up. But let this main forum remain for serious discussion and send the people who wish to engage in partisan politics to their own separate enclosure. That should eliminate about 90% of the useless dialog that clutters this forum.

The best thing to come out of OWS is the "99%" brand. The OWS brand itself got lost in the few idiots doing really stupid things.

The time for national marches and such in the name of Occupy has past. Find a group with leadership and organization that you like and go with it.

Time to occupy the local governments. Politics trickles up. Have you approached your city with a proposal against corporate personhood?

any thoughts on a seperate forum

[-] 2 points by HempTwister (667) from Little Rock, AR 11 years ago

Sorry. I was trying to point out that I think that should be done on the local level. That is what we do. But we have issues which are very local.

I 'd love to to hear more about this idea to occupy local govs's

But thats my f-ing point. If your idea is buryed in everything else,I'll probably never hear it !!!!!

We have found that a handful of people at a very local meeting like city council is very effective because no one else shows up. We have a very good liberal weekly which alerts us to stuff we need to deal with whether it is a proposed development on the watershed of or water supply or a vet center issue or an attempt to use eminent domain on a low income neighborhood. Those are three we have had success with. Did not win the battle to continue our occupation. We have people in the local Democratic Party and we were at the state conventions of both parties. We just missed getting a candidate for the local school board. And just missed, we got our part done, getting a state amendment on the ballot.

Amazing what just showing up can do. ;p

To your last Q, not yet

personally, I d like to aim world wide first, but thats beside the point, the post is about a forum where ( only ) ideas for action will be on topic

The world is going through the same process right now - Occupy is world wide.

We need to support eachother - while we each address the issues in our societies.

The Move to Amend state by state campaign to remove corpoRAT personhood is a good campaign strategy to emulate to address all of our issues with government and business and interaction with the rest of the world.

We need to get sane here and help spread that sanity. As each population of each society around the world must do the same.

The thing is we can communicate with eachother and support promote understanding of unity in common cause.

As each area gains sanity in their society they can then better support their world neighbors to do the same.

I guess my comment was that we need to support actions like:

The Move to Amend state by state campaign to remove corpoRAT personhood is a good campaign strategy to emulate to address all of our issues with government and business and interaction with the rest of the world.

And repeat the process for such things as OSTA and getting rid of fossil fuel use and clean-up toxic dumps and promote a living wage for all entry level workers etc etc etc in addressing all of the ills of our society/world.
