Forum Post: We need to begin pursuing the Chamber Of Commerce

This content is user submitted and not an official statement

This is a government agency tasked with supporting American business but has turned into a tax payer funded lobbying group for corporations with zero moral mandate in regard to Americans.

Example http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/the-switch/wp/2013/08/05/sopa-died-in-2012-but-obama-administration-wants-to-revive-part-of-it/

This part of our government should be closed down entirely. Not defunded, not fixed, but removed all together.

Chambers of commerce are Evil union halls for local businesses and corporations. Big ALEC members.

The United States Department of Commerce (DOC) is the Cabinet department of the United States government concerned with promoting economic growth. The mission of the department is to "promote job creation and improved living standards for all Americans by creating an infrastructure that promotes economic growth, technological competitiveness, and sustainable development". Among its tasks are gathering economic and demographic data for business and government decision-making, issuing patents and trademarks, and helping to set industrial standards.

Can you explain the joke?

The USDOC is probably a bigger fan of American job outsourcing than anyone else. American labor, organized or not, should not whine about it. but prepare to see wages dive to 50% of what they were in 1999.

The joke is the USDOC is helping to promote job creation, improved living standards, technological competiveness, etc in foreign countries and not in the United States to our demise.

This is really my newest point of interest. The continued push for SOPA made me take notice how many times I've heard of ant-freedom laws and anti-labor laws passed and proposed that have something to do with the COC. They seem to pop up around every pro-wallst corner.

Gotta love liberals. When they find something they don't agree with, like a chamber of Commerce, to help small businessmen, grow jobs, hire employees, pay taxes, ..you know..grow the economy...their first thought is "Shut them down".

Typical fucking NAZI liberals. When you can't win with their asshole ideas....then they want to shut down the opposition. Fucking book burner asshole justgotoffwork.

Wow, your response illustrates your lack of understanding spectacularly. If any organization is a thorn in the side of working people, it is the Chamber. That organization has spearheaded some of the most ferocious attacks on wage earners. The Chamber of Commerce ain't no victim of the liberal agenda, as you so ignorantly put it. If any union needs to be educated about, it be the US Chamber of Commerce.

I own a small biz and I don't have any clue what the COC has to offer me, let alone gaining any benefit from their existence. Maybe you could justify their continued existence with more than ranting.
