Forum Post: We eat what we kill

We are Wall Street. It’s our job to make money. Whether it’s a commodity, stock, bond, or some hypothetical piece of fake paper, it doesn’t matter. We would trade baseball cards if it were profitable. I didn’t hear America complaining when the market was roaring to 14,000 and everyone’s 401k doubled every 3 years. Just like gambling, its not a problem until you lose. I’ve never heard of anyone going to Gamblers Anonymous because they won too much in Vegas.

Well now the market crapped out, & even though it has come back somewhat, the government and the average Joes are still looking for a scapegoat. God knows there has to be one for everything. Well, here we are.

Go ahead and continue to take us down, but you’re only going to hurt yourselves. What’s going to happen when we can’t find jobs on the Street anymore? Guess what: We’re going to take yours. We get up at 5am & work till 10pm or later. We’re used to not getting up to pee when we have a position. We don’t take an hour or more for a lunch break. We don’t demand a union. We don’t retire at 50 with a pension. We eat what we kill, and when the only thing left to eat is on your dinner plates, we’ll eat that.

For years teachers and other unionized labor have had us fooled. We were too busy working to notice. Do you really think that we are incapable of teaching 3rd graders and doing landscaping? We’re going to take your cushy jobs with tenure and 4 months off a year and whine just like you that we are so-o-o-o underpaid for building the youth of America. Say goodbye to your overtime and double time and a half. I’ll be hitting grounders to the high school baseball team for $5k extra a summer, thank you very much.

So now that we’re going to be making $85k a year without upside, Joe Mainstreet is going to have his revenge, right? Wrong! Guess what: we’re going to stop buying the new 80k car, we aren’t going to leave the 35 percent tip at our business dinners anymore. No more free rides on our backs. We’re going to landscape our own back yards, wash our cars with a garden hose in our driveways. Our money was your money. You spent it. When our money dries up, so does yours.

The difference is, you lived off of it, we rejoiced in it. The Obama administration and the Democratic National Committee might get their way and knock us off the top of the pyramid, but it’s really going to hurt like hell for them when our fat a**es land directly on the middle class of America and knock them to the bottom.

We aren’t dinosaurs. We are smarter and more vicious than that, and we are going to survive. The question is, now that Obama & his administration are making Joe Mainstreet our food supply…will he? and will they?

I can't believe how out of touch you are. You act like that 35 percent tip is some form of charity for the pathetic working man.

You tip 35%? Wow, you need to pass the info on to your colleagues, some of them aren't tipping at all these days. You spent all our money, now its our turn.

Why are you so afraid ? Get some treatment !

True, "just like gambling, its not a problem until you lose", and although I'm all in favor of taking down today's ineffective and inefficient Top 10% Management Group of Business & Government, there's only one way to do it – by fighting bankers as bankers ourselves, and thus not "gambling". Consequently, I have posted the Strategic Legal Policies, Organizational Operating Structures, and Tactical Investment Procedures necessary to do this at:

Do you have any idea how many of your kith and kin are on long term unemployment since they were downsized and discovered that they have no saleable skills? You're not going to land on me, my market is independent of you.

please ignore this guys post

you're wasting energy on this guy and he's definitely not worth your time

I am available to do landscaping and car washing. I agree with you 100%. Those that know how to succeed will return to success after everything is taken away. Those that always failed and looked for a scapegoat will fall back to at position.

Well said.

[-] 1 points by mbnfromtheog (70) 12 years ago

Who says you get more for working harder and smarter? We're all people and DESERVE to be compensated equally!

[-] 1 points by mdsmithbsc (27) 12 years ago

Communist.

[-] 1 points by mbnfromtheog (70) 12 years ago

Dont you dare label me a communist! We're all here to take back from Wall $treet what belongs to the people!

[-] 1 points by mdsmithbsc (27) 12 years ago

That's what communism is.

[-] 1 points by mbnfromtheog (70) 12 years ago

OK I may have been too excited when I said we should be compensated equally. What I meant was FAIRLY!! Supply and demand!!

[-] 1 points by lolwut101 (35) 12 years ago

Not all people deserve to be compensated equally. If you are lazy, stupid, or just plain suck at what you do, you do not deserve equal compensation to somebody with better performance.

[-] 1 points by mbnfromtheog (70) 12 years ago

then why are we out here? an artist performs a job just as important as an engineer in society

[-] 1 points by lolwut101 (35) 12 years ago

I hate to break it to you, but this is not necessarily true. Also, OWS is not about equal compensation for all.

Let's pretend a person is an artist. However, they really aren't very good and do not generate art that people want to consume. Since they essentially do nobody any good by producing art, they do not deserve compensation (they actually deserve NO compensation, if they fail to produce anything somebody wishes to buy).

We look at another artist, how about a major record label recording artist. Their art is in demand, and sells, and therefore they deserve more compensation than the poor artist.

Let's assume somebody is an engineer, and they also suck. They can't get/keep an engineering job, so therefore they are not compensated equally to a competent engineer.

This is what OWS is about: let's assume there is a competent artist, and another artist that sucks. The competent artist does well for themselves. The second artist has friends in Congress that hand him money to make bad art because they like him. The public suffers because this individual makes poor art, and they also have to pay for it without any choice in the matter.

You can't be serious. It is thinking like that which leads people to take on a burden of student loans that can never be paid back.

[-] 1 points by mbnfromtheog (70) 12 years ago

Hate to break it to you but most of us out here DID take on student loans with the promise that any degree we achieved would lead to gainful employment!! We were tricked!

[-] 1 points by BrainC (400) from Austin, TX 12 years ago

Who is it that PROMISED you gainful employment from ANY college degree?

Even a degree in Recreation & Tourism?

[-] 1 points by BrainC (400) from Austin, TX 12 years ago

My daughter just started college, and I never promised her a job when is graduates. I promised her more and broader opportunities.

We even discussed her career options with a liberal arts degree versus a business degree... guess which one she is working on

[-] 1 points by mbnfromtheog (70) 12 years ago

The Democrats

[-] 1 points by lolwut101 (35) 12 years ago

You probably ought to have researched that first, before believing that drivel.

Guess what? The government is in the pockets of the universities, too. If you haven't noticed (and I am sure you have, based on this) the price of education is increasing exponentially. Why? Because the government has increased the price by artificially inflating demand through student loan programs.

Of course, this doesn't fix the fact that some people should have been told to take welding classes instead of to go to college and waste 4 years studying glass blowing.

[-] 1 points by mbnfromtheog (70) 12 years ago

Aren't all of us out here in the same position?!?! Useless 4 year degree or multiple useless degrees!!!???!?! We are the 99%!!

[-] 1 points by lolwut101 (35) 12 years ago

No, not all of us.

[-] 1 points by mbnfromtheog (70) 12 years ago

Where are the engineers, accountants, scientists, nurses, etc?!?!? I see none!

[-] 1 points by sudoname (1001) from Berkeley, CA 12 years ago

Check out what your student loans are paying for. This has a lot of universities. 800k/year for the head coach, 500k/year for the top law prof: http://www.collegiatetimes.com/databases/salaries/university-of-california-berkeley

[-] 1 points by lolwut101 (35) 12 years ago

I think that should go without explanation...

They are working.

[-] 1 points by mbnfromtheog (70) 12 years ago

Why are they working taking money away from me that is OWED!!?!

[-] 1 points by lolwut101 (35) 12 years ago

I certainly hope you are not serious. Owed for what?

[-] 1 points by Mooks (1985) 12 years ago

Who made that promise to you?

I would hope that anyone smart enough to go to college would be able to see why dropping $150K for an art degree or a philosophy degree or any other useless degrees would be a problem long term. Maybe not though because we give loans for anyone and everyone to go to college.

College is not for everyone. We need house painters, carpenters, plumbers, electricians, construction workers, etc. Those are all very good jobs that require no secondary education.

[-] 1 points by mbnfromtheog (70) 12 years ago

I was only in high school at the time!! I figured that since one art degree wasnt cutting it, that if I got a masters I would be in demand. I was wrong. I am the 99%.

[-] 1 points by lolwut101 (35) 12 years ago

That's why you should have done some research first. Education is an investment. Investors do research before buying into something.

[-] 1 points by BrainC (400) from Austin, TX 12 years ago

and how is that Art degree working out for you? Never mind, I can tell by the OWS participation.

and a masters at that? wow.... you did drink the college diploma kool-aide. Sorry to hear it. Best of luck with that one
