The starkest part of the movie is the place that the old went to to die. They actually wanted to "go home". I have a 90 year old mom who is so active and still l loves to contribute Se would love to "go home", but not right now. The movie showed how treating our senior citizen as disposable is a terrible thing.

While I do believe that their will definitely be an increase of famines, diseases, and overall food shortages, I think that it won't get to that point (at least not right away). Firstly, I do believe that there will be people who will die of starvation and diseases because they have mass food shortages and no access to clean drinking water. I believe that these will be the poorest of the poor (e.g. Sub-saharan Africa). They always seem to get hit hard by famines. This is very sad to think of.

In America, as you know the middle class will be gone soon, so the 99% will be poor. I believe that due to this that their will be a collapse of Government Safety net programs. (People who are for this country going the socialist route would scoff at this thought.) So, if the Government programs are gone, you will have a new level of poverty in this nation that we are not use to seeing. I think that all hell will break loose and their will be rioting, looting, and murders as people are going to be extremely angry at the state the country is in. I also see the possibility of pandemics in the future. If you haven't checked out the movie Contagion, I highly recommend that movie.

Anyway, I think that their will be a chunk of the world population (2 billion or more) wiped out due to famines and food shortages alone. Then the death toll will increase due to pandemic(s) and political and social unrest (and violence) worldwide. I am not sure about a solvent green situation, but God help us if it comes to that. If none of what I mentioned happens, then I say we could be heading in that direction. YIKES!

I forgot to mention wars. This too will bring down the human population. This is all so sad to think about, but it may very well be the reality we will have to face.

Really? It's a good thing the 99% are so mindful of natural resources. Take India for example..
