Correct me if I am wrong, but the person who set himself on fire and sparked the Arab-Spring, was in fact a Middle-man; operating a street vendor operation. He was a capitalist !

His name was Mohamed Bouazizi and he was more like a subsistence worker, if you ask me. He earned "approximately US$140 per month selling produce on the street in Sidi Bouzid." Bouazizi "did not have the funds to bribe police officials to allow his street vending to continue." He was simply trying to survive.

Sorry to be pedantic but his name IS Mohammed Bouazzizi and it will NEVER be forgotten. In chaos theory this man's burnt butterfly wings fluttered and a 99% Storm was born! Thank you for your patient comment to an empty posting but especially for the link. I can't believe I had never looked up this wiki before, lol.

I think Al Jazeera knows how to spell his name, although there may be more than one correct spelling. Here is another good link about his life. Seems he was paying for his sister to attend university.

Oh, I was only questioning the tense NOT the spelling, lol. It is an arabic name and for sure Al Jazeera would know the spelling so I stand corrected and thank you for the excellent link. May he rest in peace.

I agree. I am forever grateful to him.

He has touched many lives. The Tunisian ruling elite were defeated by Mohammed Bouazizi in a way that was simply unimaginable before. Other corrupt regimes fell. The Storm came for them and they fled and the global 99% took note. I shall mention his name at dinner tonight and say that on this Veteran's day, Mohammed Bouazizi is a true fallen soldier in the 99% struggle for compassion, love and social justice. May he rest in peace and we will never give up! Happy holiday to you and yours. Go Occupy!

Great point about today being Veteran's Day and the importance of remembering Bouazizi. Solidarity!

BW, thanks for this link. The article clearly states he bought fruit and sold fruit on his vending cart. He was clearly a middleman ..
