Police have used rubber bullets and tear gas to disperse angry protesters thronging the streets of Spain. Dozens of people were injured and a number of activists detained during the latest nationwide anti-austerity demonstrations. In a major show of strength, hundreds of thousands have been taking part in the protests. People marched in 80 cities across the country to protest against more suffocating austerity which is to come. That's after the German Parliament gave the green light to the 100-billion Euro bailout for the country's battered banks. The EU's finance ministers are now expected to approve the conditions for the financial lifeline to Madrid. Carlos Delclos, a sociologist at Pompeu Fabra University, believes the situation in Spain is only going to go from bad to worse.

Austerity economics benefits only one group, and it is not the workers.

The elite, are functioning under the allusion that they are in control. Actually, they have a "Tiger By The Tail".

And the tiger is in the process of turning around and making them into hamburger.

Excellent.

Yes - well now that assumes the tiger is the public - then I am smiling.

If it turns out to be pollution and economic collapse - then I am not gonna be smiling.

So People - TIGER-UP.

Good point.

Also, hoping for nonviolent change, not another Reign of Terror. The French revolution started because people could not afford flour. The elite of today, do not remember history.

Climate causing bad crops, while the elite are buying futures in food produce and destroying water resource.

Someone else pointed out something funny ( NOT ) about comparing the united states to the old U.S.S.R. - they pointed out that as the Russians move towards democracy - more support for the people, actual news programs that report some actual news etc etc. Well that at the same time the USA seems to be moving more in the direction of Russia's apparently abandoned dictatorship. No news just propaganda - lip service to the people and doing their own thing or doing as corpoRATions want. There were more comparisons but I think that anyone who takes a good look at what is going on in this country - they can well see plenty to compare to the practices of a dictatorship.

Agree, the comparison works.

In Cold War Russia, everything for the dictatorship, nothing for the people. In US today, everything for the corporations/dictatorship, nothing for the people.

Maybe Russia could help out with "Radio Free USA".

Wouldn't that just be the height of irony.

Yes - you have to have dreams or you have nothing to work for.

Dreams - They're Great.

This is just the beginning. The world is due for a huge massive war soon. Americans have never been through something like that.

Its going to be an ugly scenario for the spoiled brat of nations.

I think the chaos is going to come to our shores this time around...

Rome was isolated for a while by being on a penisula. Britain was isolated for a while be being an island. We have been isolated from the oceans.
