Find out how we can get Direct Democracy at the national level. We The People should be able to vote on the issues not just the politicians. Please watch this 4 min. film on the topic http://ni4d.us/ Right now we give all of our power away on Election Day and "hope" that our president/representatives will act in our best interest... I'd rather vote myself on whether a corporation is a person or whether I want my tax money to go to wars vs. education.

Vote to empower We The People!

Too many people out there are so easily swayed by simple propaganda that I'm not sure if I trust everyone to vote directly. I am very open-minded and an advocate for change, but our population has been dumbed down for so long, we are not ready for direct voting. I mean we still have people who think the Earth is 6000 year old, gays have ruined the world, global warming isn't happening and the 999 plan is a wonderful proposal. So while I think it is our job to educate the next generation so they can make rational decisions, this generation is extremely irrational and their votes will only make things worse. I'm sorry but the average person doesn't think about the world around them and has no idea how things work.

Democracy should be more than two wolves and a lamb arguing about what to have for supper.

Without an educated and informed population with enough leisure time to be active in politics, democracy cannot prevail. People are too in love with emotional arguments and non-sequiturs to be trusted with direct democracy.

I really think to make this happen it has to start at the local level. We need a few progressive communities to model electronic direct democracy in the hopes it will catch on and become more mainstream... first towns then cities then states then the federal govt. If this were to happen top down it would actually not be a good thing at all, it would just be a giant boondoggle.

Or whether or not we should all be Christians or Pastafarians? Direct democracy could get scary. What if the majority decided to gang up on the minority? If the majority has the power to make laws the voice of the minority would be squelched.
