Forum Post: Urgent: Include abolishment of Software Patents in demands

Software patents are the cancer killing the technology industry. They are far too broad in definition to sustain healthy competition. Also, I'd like to suggest we make major reforms to our patent and "intellectual property" systems.

Thank you for posting this! There are major problems when it comes to software patents and other forms of "intellectual property". Huge companies like Microsoft, IBM, Apple, Google, Oracle and more have amassed extremely large patent portfolios for the sole purpose of destroying competition, independent developers, and small companies.

THIS NEEDS TO BE A DEMAND!!!

The right to patent is in the Constitution though...

Article 1, Sec. 8, Clause 8 ... except that more than one author would've written the code. It's also ambiguous regarding Authors.

If anything, the language needs to be clarified and I am sure that I am missing Acts and new laws affecting them.
