Realistically it has to be a combo of both. You can't live on bingo chips if you choose to be a dancer but not good enough to get hired .

In a world of equal pay we would all pursue our interests/ happiness. And get paid for it. So no it is not a combo of both nor is the question flawed.

A world of equal pay is not realistic. Never said the question was flawed. I voiced my opinion. It would be a combo of personal interest and financial incentive. I like what I do and get paid well for it. I guess I have the best of both.

You are fortunate. But equal pay is realistic , fully functional and offers a possibility of fairness and equality for everyone; an opportunity for peace on earth.

I am fortunate, but it is not an unattainable goal. Took me many years and hard work to get where I am today. Lots of hard knocks and crappy jobs paved the way to finding my balance in life. But equal pay will never be something that the public would embrace. It just isn't a realistic option.

So than you would prefer unequal pay?

[-] 1 points by CatLady2 (248) from New York, NY 12 years ago

I prefer pay equal to the level of skill. What is unequal pay anyway? Do you think an RN should make the same as a receptionist? Or an accountant to make the same as the person who sells shoes? Sure I think the minimum wage should be raised, but to pay everyone the same? Nah, not realistic.

Yes I believe equal pay for everyone.

The architect who designs the hospital. The tradesman who builds the hospital. The doctors , nurses , and receptionists. And the janitor who keeps the hospital sanitized and clean. Yes all equal pay. And also all training paid for equally. This is absolutely fair. A brain surgeon doesn't work any harder than a receptionist or the janitor all are equal.

No disrespect , but I don't think you know any brain surgeons. I surely wouldn't want the guy who sweeps the floor opening up my head. Equality as humans, yes. Equality in pay, never happening. I think it's time to move on with realistic goals in this movement.

System A

[-] 0 points by KingVegetax (51) 12 years ago

lmao then your premise is completely worthless. If all pay is equal there is no financial incentive to base your career off of

[-] 0 points by FriendlyObserverA (610) 12 years ago

With equal pay your career would be based off of your personal interest and abilities.

Yeah this question is not gonna work out too well. If my personal interest is to become rich both A and B apply. Question is flawed

It's something you've got to experience to believe.

You pick a career based on peronal happiness if that suits you. no one is stopping you and you can harvest the self esteem that you desire. i'll pick a career that gives me huge material wealth. I wont whine about the lack of personal fulfillment my choice negates, and you cant whine about the rich.

always, always choose money as the goal for your career. get your self worth from what you do outside of careers with friends, family, charity. you will have the best if both worlds, high ersonal self esteem and lots of cool toys to play with, including hot girls, lol.
