It would be great if all the marchers had résumés. The resumes which would be handed out to press of course would say things like:

  • would sell own mother or buy someone else's if it resulted in short term gains

  • stuck firmly in materialistic mindset so I respond very well to financial inducements even if you're asking me to break the law or my own morals

  • my entire morality is based on one question: "does it make money"?

  • I am not that concerned about the world my kids or their kids will grow up in. I really don't give a rats ass about anything but money and myself.

LOL! Great. Maybe you could create a Facebook page? I'd do it myself, except I know nothing about Facebook...

[-] 1 points by therising (6643) 12 years ago

It would be a wonderful facebook page. And people could print out resumes from it after customizing their own. The key is the press gets ahold of these of course as we we're marching / sitting in at Goldman "waiting to turn in our resumes." :). Just imagine th PR nightmare for Goldman. All those jobs lost in part because of their speculation and greed....and now here are the people who lost those jobs, asking for them back!!!! You know what those jobs got traded in for? Huge corporate bonuses and stock options. And you know what they spend it on? Houses in the Hamptons, jets, coke and prostitutes.

[-] 2 points by therising (6643) 12 years ago

I think we need to give Goldman a real PR nightmare with this job application thing. Reporter: Why are you here sith thousands of protesters demonstrating outside of Goldman.

Interviewee: "protesting Goldman?" I'm looking for a job. Goldman engaged in practices that resulted in the loss of countless jobs. We just want them back. They must be here somewhere so we're here in line with our resumes....waiting patiently. (hands resume to reporter.... Resume says. "reasons I think I'm qualified to work here: 1). I would sell my own mother or buy yours to make a buck. 2). I'm not embarrassed to get huge bonuses for shuffling paper while millions of Americans are out of work and suffering. Etc.

[-] 2 points by therising (6643) 12 years ago

I can just picture it. Protesters all around the world puttin in job applications at Goldman Sachs. This vampire squid of a company NEEDS a PR nightmare. They need a light shining on them.

[-] 2 points by OurTimes2011 (377) from Arlington, VA 12 years ago

Hey, why don't we get our friends around the would to drop off applications AT EVERY GOLDMAN SACHS OFFICE AROUND THE WORLD.

[-] 1 points by therising (6643) 12 years ago

Great idea!

In case you need a picture of the building....http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/200_West_Street

[-] 1 points by therising (6643) 12 years ago

It's a great location for a rally and there would be TONS of press who would show up. Great opportunity to shine a bright light on the great vampire squid's corruption.

[-] 1 points by therising (6643) 12 years ago

It would be wonderful to shine a light on Goldman Sachs....

[-] 1 points by pissedoffconstructionworker (602) 12 years ago

Everyone must wear suits.

[-] 1 points by therising (6643) 12 years ago

Let's do this.

[-] 1 points by MonetizingDiscontent (1257) 12 years ago

heehee

[-] 1 points by therising (6643) 12 years ago

The resumes we drop off should be very descriptive (all the greedy personality traits they're looking for. And these should of course be leaked to press as we more standing in line outside the door.

[-] 1 points by technoviking (484) 12 years ago

i couldn't get in. too much security. of course i loitered about until i saw someone who looked like he worked at GS, and i tried to speak to him. he told me since i am just coming out of college i should speak to my campus career service or go to the webpage to submit an online application how did i not think of that!

i called up my career services at harvard and they told me they'd arrange something for me with a few of my alumni. this is fantastic!!

[-] 1 points by therising (6643) 12 years ago

Be sure to let us all know how it goes. Goldman is responsible for countless Americans losing their savings and their jobs so I'm sure many in the country would like to see if Goldman will make up for it by hiring! I heard something about them planning to give out some obscene amount of money in bonuses this year even thought they lost a ton of money. Maybe they could reduce the obscene bonuses and do some hiring as penance.

[-] 1 points by frankchurch1 (839) from Jersey City, NJ 12 years ago

You are either on the side of good or evil. What gets me is they know God will judge them but they do it anyway. Wall Street, meet hellfire.

[-] 1 points by therising (6643) 12 years ago

non-violently

[-] 1 points by TechJunkie (3029) from Miami Beach, FL 12 years ago

This is a silly idea, since there have been people here offering jobs and getting very unfriendly responses. What if Goldman Sachs tries to hire somebody? How are you going to weasel out of taking the job, while saving face?

[-] 1 points by therising (6643) 12 years ago

Dude. They're not going to even let us in the door to put the application in. That's the point.

[-] 1 points by therising (6643) 12 years ago

It really is a beautiful day for a walk!

[-] 0 points by monahan (272) 12 years ago

Are you hiring

[-] 1 points by OurTimes2011 (377) from Arlington, VA 12 years ago

Why?

[-] 1 points by monahan (272) 12 years ago

I would like to apply for a position if you are.

[-] 1 points by OurTimes2011 (377) from Arlington, VA 12 years ago

Sure, I'll apply. But lets get this thing GLOBAL. Every Occupy city. All over the world. Now, that would be something.

[-] -1 points by AntiCorp (187) 12 years ago

How's gonna hire a bunch of whiny people who want everything for free?

[-] 1 points by therising (6643) 12 years ago

As opposed to the "hard workers" at Goldman who convinced their clients to buy stocks they KNEW were bad and then BET AGAINST their own clients. :). You have no idea how silly you sound defending these selfish immoral individuals.

[-] 0 points by AntiCorp (187) 12 years ago

I know, it's great to be in the 1%

[-] 1 points by therising (6643) 12 years ago

But you're not in the 1% you numbskull. That's what is so humorous. Maybe, like many people, you have wrongly concluded that you may someday be a part of the 1%. This leads you to defend the 1% and it's funny because you'll never get there.

[-] 0 points by AntiCorp (187) 12 years ago

How do you know I'm not there now....$2.7 million isn't in the 1%?

[-] 1 points by April (3196) 12 years ago

1% is not defined by income level, net worth or tax bracket. It's about the corruption of government.
Unless you have used your entire $2.7 Mil to corrupt the government, then you are nowhere near being in the 1%.
If you have, then you are now broke.

[-] 1 points by therising (6643) 12 years ago

They wouldn't let you wax their car if that's all you have.

[-] 1 points by therising (6643) 12 years ago

Nope

[-] 0 points by AntiCorp (187) 12 years ago

Someday you can tell your kids u were at OWS just like the hippies before you told their kids they were at Woodstock. Maybe they will even do a 25 year anniversary and the founders of OWS can make a ton of money off it?

[-] 1 points by therising (6643) 12 years ago

You're just chasing phantoms everywhere aren't you? Is that what this is about for you? You're pissed about civil rights movement? Women's rights? Etc? You want to roll all that back? U mad about African American being in White House too? Have you signed onto the who ridiculous troll platform? :)

[-] 0 points by AntiCorp (187) 12 years ago

No thanks, I'm good working and not slacking on other peoples dime.

[-] 1 points by therising (6643) 12 years ago

Who is slacking? I own a successful company that's been in business for 15 years. I employ 20 people. Maybe you're the slacker.

[-] 0 points by AntiCorp (187) 12 years ago

See ya in the bread lines

[-] 1 points by therising (6643) 12 years ago

I'll give you some fresh local produce from our local market. You've been eating way too much of that processed archer Daniels midland crap. It's affected your brain. Ween yourself off that. You'll feel better.

[-] 0 points by AntiCorp (187) 12 years ago

Thanks for the tip.

[-] 0 points by AntiCorp (187) 12 years ago

Yeah well I guess your employees can say, "thanks" when u protest your own business into the dust. Ironic isn't it?

[-] 1 points by therising (6643) 12 years ago

Actually us business folks do better when there aren't cheaters in our midst rigging the market. So, actually we're strengthening our business by speaking out against corruption. You on the other hand seem to be speaking out FOR corruption. Interesting stance. Seems awkward but whatever floats your boat pal.

[-] 0 points by AntiCorp (187) 12 years ago

So u own a company that employees 20 people and u have been in business for 15 years and u r part of a protests that wants to bring down capitalism? Now that is funny! I;m sure your employees will love u for throwing them out in the street when your business dies after capitalism dies at the hands of the OWS'ers.

[-] 1 points by therising (6643) 12 years ago

Capitalism needs guardrails to protect it from the bad apples in business who would sell their own mothers to make a buck. Most business people are good people. It's the bad apples that you and others keep defending that ruin it for the rest of us business owners. For example, do you know that Alan Greespan reviewed Charles Keating's operation shortly before he went to jail for fraud? Greenspan gave it rave reviews and said Keating was operating under solid business principles. Bad apple. Guys like him doing shit like that gives us business folks a bad name and we don't like it. You notice a lot of corporate CEO s of giant corporations have recently sympathized with OWS?

[-] 0 points by AntiCorp (187) 12 years ago

Just like a liberal to play the race card...it did take longer than I thought so hats off to you....well done.

[-] 1 points by therising (6643) 12 years ago

If the shoe fits..

[-] 0 points by AntiCorp (187) 12 years ago

I guess the shoe fits you just right.

[-] 1 points by therising (6643) 12 years ago

I feel bad for you because clearly you're filled with a lot of fear. You would join us, the 99%. We will welcome you with open arms.

[-] -1 points by AntiCorp (187) 12 years ago

make sure you wear your walking shoes....

OWS is knowingly helping the very types of corporations that they says they are protesting! Every time I see images and video clips from OWS, I see people wearing items made by mega-corporations such as Nike & Adidas! OWS protesters wearing clothing from North Face, & J. Crew. Hypocrites! Using Apple products...hypocrites! How can anyone take OWS seriously when protesters are ranting about corporate greed, fairness and helping the poor when they are wearing a $100.00 pair of Nike shoes, a $150.00 North Face jacket, using an $800.00 I-Pad....hypocrites!

[-] 3 points by therising (6643) 12 years ago

You make an interesting but somewhat invalid point. Let me put it this way. Let's say you're an extortionist and you're holding me hostage in a cabin in the middle of the wilderness (nothing around for 200 miles). No food. Just a little water. I'm weak from hunger and not going to last much longer. At one point, I trip you by lifting up the fancy rug made by slave labor in Guatamala. You fall and I manage to break free of my ropes and stumble outside. You are chasing me. I jump in your 1944 Volkswagon Beetle and miraculously you were dumb enough to leave your keys in there. I drive off into the night and escape to safety. Under your logic, I should never have tripped you with the rug made by slave labor and I never should have driven the VW bug designed under orders from Hitler.

Catch my drift?

Now, that said, you are absolutely correct that we should A) limit our consumption and B) definitely limit our consumption of goods from companies that do wrong.

However, that does not preclude anyone from using the products of the oppressor to cut the chains of the oppressor. I've written articles on my apple computer that have resulted in big pressure being put on corporations. You'd have me do it using smoke signals. Your argument is absurd.

[-] 2 points by pissedoffconstructionworker (602) 12 years ago

Therising, thank you for taking the time to counteract the dumbassery.

[-] 1 points by therising (6643) 12 years ago

Thank you for being a sane voice. This world is so full of systems and institutions that divide us. The occupy wall street movement is beautiful because it's a unifier and we're finding what we have in common. It just bothers me when people lob out illogical arguments in an attempt to divide and turn Americans against us.

It's your lie. Tell it however you want.
