Forum Post: This movement was created as campaign vehicle for Obama's reelection

As mentioned. "It is a ruse. The whole intention was to create the straw man "enemy" of Wall Street to deflect attention away from the failure that is the Obama administration"

Evidence:

1) Why isn't anyone protesting in front of the government? Why don't we Occupy the Capitol or Occupy the White House. The common answer seems to be that "Wall Street is the government" so there is no point. Why don't we protest in front of both then? It seems odd.

2) The secretive "inner circle" in Zuccotti Park wearing the blue wristbands/armbands which are protecting a blocked off area that no one knows what its purpose is. Could these people be related to the Obama administration and be orchestrating the movement from behind the scenes?

From CNBC: Just a bit west of the library there is what appears to be the inner circle of Occupy Wall Street. Several people, many working on laptops powered by a portable generator, sit in an area closed off by tables.

Most people—including protesters—are kept out by beefy people whose blue arm bands mark them as members of the security group. Exactly what this secretive group is doing is not clear.

“They’re media relations, and outreach and planning,” one person said.

So why are outsiders being kept from the area? No one would answer.

And so, ironically, there’s a no trespassing policy enforced at Occupy Wall Street.

3) Bloomberg backed off with the park eviction at the last minute. The owners of the park also said that they received threats from government officials that if they cleared the park then "they would make their life very difficult"

4) Obama came out today saying that his administration will be using the protests as the center of their reelection strategy:

Washington Post http://www.washingtonpost.com/business/economy/obama-plans-to-turn-anti-wall-street-anger-on-mitt-romney-republicans/2011/10/14/gIQAZfiwkL_story.html?hpid=z1

"President Obama and his team have decided to turn public anger at Wall Street into a central tenet of their reelection strategy.

The move comes as the Occupy Wall Street protests gain momentum across the country and as polls show deep public distrust of the nation’s major financial institutions.

And it sets up what strategists see as a potent line of attack against Republican front-runner Mitt Romney, a former investment executive whom Obama aides plan to portray as a wealthy Wall Street sympathizer."*

*"We intend to make it one of the central elements of the campaign next year,” Obama senior adviser David Plouffe said in an interview. “One of the main elements of the contrast will be that the president passed Wall Street reform and our opponent and the other party want to repeal it.”

“I’m pretty confident 12 months from now, as people make the decision about who to go vote for, the gut check is going to be about, ‘Who would make decisions more about helping my life than Wall Street?"

5) The artist who made campaign posters for Obama is now making posters for Occupy Wall Street

We were there today, occupydc. We've been there since the 6th of Oct 2011. We will be there tomorrow and the day after that and so on. I am one of the people who comes to dc to occupy. I live 30mins outside the district(on a good day without traffic). WeThePeople are in DC. We are evolving!

Mitt Romney did say back in Aug. that financial corporations/institutions were "people too". Big mistake.

If I'm not mistaken, the people are demonstrating in front of the government.

I hardly see any signs or outrage at the government. The overall consensus seems to be pointing toward "tax the rich" and bankers/Wall Street. Yet, it was the government who got us into this mess just as much. Why aren't we renouncing Obama and his failed policies which have further eroded the middle class?

Dude, you desperately need to get out of this democrat vs. republican thought process. Try to honestly come up with your own talking points man!! This should be easy for everyone. This is about ethics. This is about doing what's honest. You should be pissed off at all sides.

Not created by but supported by and they think that they'll be able to leverage it. Personally, given the anarchist orgins and leanings of this deal I think they're going to very quickly regret that. Watch them run soon.

Anyway, here's a note from your pal Senator Chuckie Schumer who was in on the OWS working group mailing list:

Hey Gang, I think it is extremely important that we take a census of the occupation. This should be done during the evening, when only sleepers remain (and the numbers would be lowest, but most representative of the sustained occupation). This should be AT LEAST a headcount, so we can track the numbers. I recall seeing on twitter that Monday night there were 162 sleepers. We need to know if this number is growing or not. Ideally, that count could also include other basic demographics like age and education. Knowing median age could help dispel the myth of the "college hippie" and "young radical." Geographical origin would also be interesting to know. Cheers, solidarity, and see you on the streets! Slept out Saturday night, visited Sunday and Monday, and I'll be back whenever I have a free moment.

Howard Dean's group is planning on selling yard signs. lol

the republican plan to reduce tax rates won't work- those rates cannot get any lower. Obama is not the answer he is a corporatist in liberal clothing. We must divest corporate money from our government. OWS and the people won't be fooled by you or them.
