Forum Post: this movement is noble and valid, but in my opinion

it ain't going to achieve jack$hit because it is leaderless. All the different branches should talk to each other and appoint a known face to be the spokesman and to give marching orders to the millions that sympathize. Agree or disagree? and if you agree who would you pick?

So, ya. I'm all good with the let's get behind a leader. But, I know who the key players are in doing everything within their little power to head this direction.

Here is just the kind of thing I was talking about in a previous reply in this post, Here is a link to a petition to overturn Citizens United.

OK, this link was what greeted me on the front page of Huffpost today. Great, but if you had leaders that could organize properly and have a link to this same petition up on 100 popular websites and promote it at the exact same time on each site, wouldn't it be possible to get millions of signatures on that petition?

No leader, no organization equals a firework that fizzles out instead of exploding.

MO... well... that's the whole idea of what is called a "movement" ... something that is leaderless... something that takes All ideas ... and gives them all consideration... and therefore learns from all ... and develops more than any single leader can possibly handle...

movements are about learning... about moving minds and ideas forward... make sense ?

I don't disagree with anything you've said but the problem is you may have 10 million people in the USA that agree with the occupy agenda but all going off on their own little tangent because of no single leader giving marching orders to the whole mass. Imagine if a respected leader emerged who could say "Ok, on June xth at 9:30AM I want to see 100k people in front of the NY stock exchange, 100k people in front of the Federal Reserve building, 100k people on the mall in Washington" etc... Or, "This week our goal is to deliver a petition to the congress with one million signatures on it asking for an end to Citizens United. You will find the link to sign this single petition on 500 different websites, from Huffpost to the AFL-CIO, as we all share the same goal. ". or "This week I want you all to call or email Senator BlaBlaBla and ask him why he opposes H.R. xxx and tell him that you will remember his opposition to H.R. xxx come next election." The politicians would not be able to ignore that kind of a juggernaut.

myOws.... well.... think a bit more ... after that big event.... what would happen ? ..... nothing... the media would loose interest ... as well as the voters....

the only answer is to change people's minds ...that is a continuous battle.... but it is happening... right now ... while we speak

LeaderFULL, not LeaderLess.

A mob of mindless people will achieve little and learn nothing in the process.

Think for yourself.
