The Washington Post's Op-ed writer E.J.Dionne Jr. wrote a similar article about the group "Campaign for America's Future",titled "A Tea Party on the left?",on 10/3.He mentions the Wall Street protesters in passing. Can't believe I've been reading that rag for 30 years now!

Hank, you lie. I was an original founder of the Tea Party Pennsylvania. We started it, and it isn't about corporations. It is about the government spending the money poorly. So sorry, but I think I can spend my money better than the government, in everyway.

Don't let the media turn this into a partisan movement--that's exactly what it will take to induce argument and separation that will cause it to fizzle. The grassroots Tea Party movement started similarly to this--Americans sick and tired of big government taking what belongs to us and getting into bed with corporate. It's all the same. Let's brush aside our partisan differences and come together as AMERICANS who demand responsible, representative government! WE CAN BE THE CHANGE!!

No. I'm on the mailing list to (literally) dozens of progessive organizations. Prior to the protests, a handful of them were urging members to participate.

When you take that into account, combined with the principles this protest embodies, it is absurd to tie this to the Tea Party. At least, in terms of politics in rhetoric.

There are parallels, however, in that they're both protests? They both mobilized their bases, and were not taken seriously (yet, the tides are turning) in the mainstream media.

I suspect MSNBC's corporate overlords are attempting to scew our message, in a flawed attempt to demoralize protesters. I don't expect this to last much longer, at least not from MSNBC (certainly from FOX News & probably CNN for a while), as the movement gains more support and as time goes on.

Here's the authors email at MSNBC - michael.o'brien@msnbc.com. Ask him if he's talked to any of the protesters or if he's just surmising.

They say that Occupy Wall Street could be a"Tea Party for the Left."

Occupy Wall Street is not a"Tea Party for the Left." it has no political leaning it is of the people, by the people, for the nation.

Is this true?

"Despite their honest intentions, many of the Occupy Wall Street protesters are being suckered into a trap and calling for the very "solutions" that are part of the financial elite's agenda to torpedo the American middle class – higher taxes and more big government. "

No, it's MSN's way of trying to cloud judgement. Here's an ongoing related thread:
