This needs to be be next step in the movement. This is a must read and get behind this ! We need to do this and what they have written out in the Declaration pretty much covers everthing the movement is protesting about.

https://sites.google.com/site/the99percentdeclaration/

If the movement does not realize the power of their combined voiting power and start actually going something to remove the corrupt politicians, nothing will change.

In the 70' during the Viet Nam war protests, Congressmen were elected by people writing in candidates names on the ballot. To get elected to any office, you do not have to be on the ballot, the person can be elected by people writing in their name.

Please take the time to go to the website above, read about it, and get behind this. Marching and protesting has done its done to awaken awareness - not it must be taken to the next level.

Martin Luther King did not accomplish what he did alone, he accomplished it by people of all colors going to the polls and voting in Congressman that would pass the Civil Rights Bill. They actually drove people to the polls to vote.

Even though many feel their vote does not count anymore, you are sadly mistaken. It is time to take it to the next step, go to the website above and get behind it. Your vote, the votes of millions in this movement if properly done will do the job. To get rid of the corrupt politicians who have allowed an created what we have today out of GREED. Now is the time to act, now is the time to get more organized in actually doing things besides just standing outside someone's home for 24 hours. There is a better way to effect the real changes that are needed.

Go to the above wesbsite, read the Declaration which spells out what needs to be corrected and done, but with specific solutions, which now be done.

To continue down this path of no organization, no specific demands, no spokesperson, every rising up by the people, like what Martin Luther King did, and the Viet Nam ware protests, they had spokespeople that were giving Press Conference to keep the public informed of what was going on, this is something the movement needs to learn how to make sure things get out in the public.

Thomas Jefferson said, "Educate and inform the whole mass of the people. They are hte only sure reliance for the preservation of the out liberty."

You've now been educated that the next step must now begin. Go the website and read the Declaration and get behind what they are trying to accomplish, if you stop and really think aout it, this is the next step that must begin, otherwise all of this thu far will be of naught !

OK I have an immediate problem with this thing: No transparency. No democracy. Nowhere on the site does it say who drafted the declaration or what the process was for drafting it. On the associated facebook page it says that "Ninety-Nine" is a "Working Group". A working group of one of the occupations? That would be the implication of "working group" in the context of "99", but judging from the fact that no Occupy group is mentioned I am rather sure it isn't. More troubling - no names are given. Not even handles. Sloppy. Very sloppy. In a word: FAIL.

yes, its time to get this done and there is a wiki to do it, cuz it ain't going to come to order here.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OPR3GlpQQJA

I have been active here since the very beginning, and since the very beginning I have been trying to make some core points. These points clearly have not been digested or fully understood by the mob, and so I'm going to try to make a further attempt here again.

  1. Merely protesting in the streets will not bring change. In fact merely protesting in the streets is in fact a means to the end of avoiding the real work of a revolution, which consists of the evolutionary solutions, answers, problem solving process, and new political alignment we create.
  2. This forum is absolutely disorganized. It won't be read by most people and it won't and can't function as a core organizational system.
  3. Back at the very start of this, I petitioned the admin to add multiple sub forums and a wiki. Multiple sub forums were promised but have never arrived. I think that this tells us that the intention actually of this forum is message control and containment. The entire purpose really of this forum has always been to keep us spinning in disorganization. We are hanging out on a forum that expressly exists to actually keep us confused and disorganized.
  4. The real work of a revolution isn't going to happen on forums, it needs to happen in a much more organized fashion using collaborative software.
  5. The assorted other details about how to collaborate, how to work open source direct democracy, how to focus in on science instead of isms, how to become hyper rational about this, are details which are essential and crucial, without which we can predict the movement to fail.
  6. Technically speaking we are not 99 percent, we are one tenth of one percent attempting to represent the 99 percent. Our core mission must be to communicate to and with the 99 percent, and get them to join us. This forum will not accomplish that and neither will any of the other main websites.
  7. You can follow other people out to other wikis and other websites, where they will try to get you to get involved with what they want and their program, but frankly speaking, there is no other website and no other operation out there which understands the complexities involved with meaningful organization. In short, everyones being led to get involved here there and everywhere else, scattering the movement in directions which ultimately do not gain us critical mass, criticial momentum, or critical systemic lucidity.
  8. I have managed to get a wiki put up and have already put on that wiki evolutionary details which make it more organized than anything else. I can't do this alone. There are 10 or so wikis now out there, most of which were created in response to my pleas for a wiki, and several of which are in domains owned and operated by some corporation, (wikia, etc) And which we can thus assume will simply be closed, shut down, or deleted if they become useful to the movement.
  9. Probably at least half of the invites you have to go participate at some other site are people who are scamming everyone to waste time and energy, distort the movement, co opt it, and etc. When you walk off into a closet ask yourself how you know that the closet isn't created by some fed, or by some republican, or by some democrat, in order to sway things in their direction.
  10. The only meaningful strategic option we have for real change in this country is to create a new third party, and take every political office in this country.
  11. Once that is done, we can have an article 5 convention. If we have an article 5 convention before getting rid of the oligachs, that just opens the genie from the bottle for them to abuse that process with their corruption and evil.

For these reasons, I beg of you to please immediately join me on the wiki. We need to have all of these details and all of these ideas put together in an organized fashion, rather than posted in a long scrawl which will never be read.

It seems you believe our constitutional processes are in effect, and working according to law, process and constitution...they are not. A financial coup has been effected, with the banks and corporations seizing control of the government with the support and complicity of the two treasonous two parties. Additionally, voter suppression techniques are now in use, and the diebold voting machines can be manipulated and the vote thrown. We now have a supreme court, the top court of the land; actually ruling against the constitution, once bit no more, the law of the land.

There are so many people who fail to realize, that we no longer have the legitamate government in power, but a criminal cabal, owned, and operated by the 1%. We are no longer a constitutional republic, but a dangerous fascist state. I'm not saying it's hopeless, just urging us to get real.

Who would you pencil in as a candidate if they weren't on the ballot?

[-] 0 points by Persephonie (50) 13 years ago

Ideally at some point we would need a list of candidates for each position that we could support and spread their names and messages. Just sadly, as a lot of threads have pointed out, once leaders are named the media is going to go into hyper-drive to destroy their credibility in front of the average American as too many believe the news, or are just easily swayed on things that are not important in regards to economics (like many times votes more are about prejudice, like religious people voting for someone just because they oppose gay marriage. It sucks but there are these trendy topics that the 1% know how to manipulate to get the votes they want)
