It called Libertarian Socialism or Left-libertarianism. back in the 1800s a society like this was often described as libertarian, but then the ultra-rightwingers highjacked the word resulting in it having another meaning now.

I think that in the workplace this is a valid and immediate aim. Also I think in State government. These are very good Ideas. On the level of national government, I think it would need to be implemented slowly and might not be completely achieveable, but it is a great goal.

The question is, how do we get there? It is this question of the process of achieveing the highest level of democracy, and therefore freedom, that has absorbed me recently.

We must clearly distinguish between means and ends. I have openly advocated working hard for a Democratic Majority in the next election, so that those in power will be more receptive to our aims, and more cooperative in helping us to achieve them.

There is no question that powerful forces stand in the way of achieving these ends, and firstly we must deal with the nuts and bolts of how to get from where we are, to a more utopian level of participatory democracy.

I agree completely that people function much better and are far happier in a state of cooperation than competition, but how do we get from here to there? Good thinking has gone into this idea, but our focus now must on how to implement it.

"I think it would need to be implemented slowly and might not be completely achieveable, but it is a great goal."

I agree. Some of these things are long term goals.

"The question is, how do we get there?"

Thanks. I think the whole question of cooperation as a model for society, instead of competition is a great vision of progress. Most people are miserable under top down, authoritatian systems. And thanks for the link!
