Forum Post: Things Go Better With Koch

Posted 11 years ago on March 9, 2013, 1:30 p.m. EST by shoozTroll (17632)
This content is user submitted and not an official statement

They just never tell you what things go better with Koch.

Definitely not health care.

"It is impossible to find any socially redeeming value in the Koch brothers’ existence, and the damage they wreaked on this nation and its people is immeasurable. They were the driving force behind the Citizens United decision, spend millions promoting climate change denial, celebrated and congratulated Republicans for enacting sequestration cuts, fund the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC), and fund anti-union efforts in all fifty states. They are connected to every anti-American and anti-democracy effort in the nation, and are hell-bent on controlling and profiting from every aspect of American society whether it is education or politics, and by any measure are evil incarnate. That they actively deny poor Americans basic healthcare, although despicable, is just another aspect of their malicious existence."

Or much of anything else with a modicum of actual compassion.

I urge everyone to watch this 10 minute segment from the Dylan Ratigan show where he interviews Harriet Washington author of "Deadly Monopolies: The Shocking Corporate Takeover of Life Itself--And the Consequences for Your Health and Our Medical Future"

http://www.nbcnews.com/video/dylan-ratigan-show/45875919#45875919

"Medical Extractionism" is a great and deeply telling phrase used by Rattigan here. Thanx for this important and very affecting post and link, further to which I append :

fiat lux ...

I like Harriett, I've seen her before and this is a good one too.

I've often wondered what happened to this.

Very interesting. Just think how much money they would lose on over the counter cold meds if one drug could cure the common cold. Nah. We don't want that. This is what capitalism does. Sad.

[-] 1 points by shoozTroll (17632) 11 years ago

Not just colds. It's a broad spectrum anti-viral.

It would take of a host of things that ail us.

A good chunk of the video here is dedicated to this exact issue. http://occupywallst.org/forum/you-cant-miss-this-not-conglomerate-related/

That's exactly what we should be doing. We should be expanding Medicare! What is so difficult to understand about that? The costs for Medicare would plummet if you put every young and healthy person in there. Right now it only covers people over the age of 65, soon to be 67! Of course it's freaking expensive!

Alan Grayson is very good and his bill would be a good start.

[-] -1 points by TrevorMnemonic (5827) 11 years ago

Sweet link!

The propaganda against public option health care is scary. Kucinich tried for single payer amendment to keep hope alive in 2009 and they all left him in the dust. They left him in the dust when he pushed for HR 676, single payer, in 2006 as well. And all the other times as well.

classic Dylan Ratigan quote - "It is a mathematical fact! This is not some opinion; this is a mathematical fact. Tens of trillions of dollars are being extracted from the United States of America. Democrats aren’t doing it, Republicans are not doing it, an entire integrated system, financial system, trading system, taxing system, that was created by both parties over a period of two decades is at work on our entire country right now."

"Your Congress is bought!"

[-] 5 points by beautifulworld (23822) 11 years ago

Great quote from Ratigan. His show was very good. Personally, I think he was driven out of MSM.

[-] 1 points by shoozTroll (17632) 11 years ago

I read that they were trying.

Let's hope they have a measure of success.

[-] 1 points by inclusionman (7064) 11 years ago

Seems unlikely but possible.

They will need our support.

[-] 2 points by inclusionman (7064) 11 years ago

Here's a nice little tidbit on our favorite Libe(R)tarian wacko money men.

http://www.policymic.com/articles/28423/greedy-lying-bastards-review-the-koch-brothers-war-on-truth

[-] 2 points by shoozTroll (17632) 11 years ago

KEWL!

The review. Looks like must see cinema.

If you can understand how this works, you've begun to understand multi-pronged marketing/PR.

"In the last decade, the Koch Brothers and ExxonMobil have spent ungodly sums of money on various talking heads, lobbyists, think tanks, Tea Party political fronts, and artificial "grass roots" groups, with a single goal in mind: transform the climate change from scientific fact to a polarizing political wedge issue. "

[-] 3 points by inclusionman (7064) 11 years ago

insidious

[-] 1 points by shoozTroll (17632) 11 years ago

Media goes better with Koch too!!!!

As if the "right" doesn't have a big enough lock on the media, the brothers Koch want to get in on the game.

Mostly for the purpose of OWNING the editorial pages. (they actually said that) How else can there be freedom of opinion, if the richest bastards of all don't get to drown out all the other opinions.

http://www.politicususa.com/kochs-shiny-propaganda-machine.html

Somehow, I don't think they are doing this to bring competition to anything at all.

That's not what they do.

Fresh hot cup of ALEC anyone?

Sorry.

I didn't know you were a fan.

Oh, and by the way, they actually do these kinds of things and a whole lot more.

Fan hell!! I trust an aggressive pit-bull more than those SOBs.

Do you have a link to the quote?

I have a feeling you're makin' stuff up.

[-] -2 points by OTP (-203) from Tampa, FL 11 years ago

Check out the big pharma companies involved with ALEC and find out which politicians are accepting their money.

[-] 2 points by shoozTroll (17632) 11 years ago

It has a LOT more to do with who is pushing ALEC legislation.

A whole lot more,

[-] -3 points by OTP (-203) from Tampa, FL 11 years ago

The corporations are. They use the Republicans to introduce the bills, and fund the Dems by more money in many cases. Makes for a near perfect racket.

[-] 2 points by shoozTroll (17632) 11 years ago

Always minimizing the actions the brothers Koch, ALEC and so many more, all the while pretending you are the perfect spokesmodel for OWS.

Always pointing at politicians while pretending to be "non-partisan".

Always dragging politics into every thread you can.

You never did say how those efforts to repeal "right to work " are coming along?

You've proven over and over how you really feel about the 99%.

You think their all asses.

[+] -4 points by OTP (-203) from Tampa, FL 11 years ago

Everytime someone posts the roots of ALEC, you are no where to be found. They cant operate without cash shooz. Corprations love having boards to discuss things.

Feel free to chime in:

http://occupywallst.org/forum/alec-board-members/

[-] 2 points by shoozTroll (17632) 11 years ago

Paul Weyrich.

It's actually all the things you've ignored, over and over.

Wanna talk about who founded the John Birch Society?

Wanna talk about who founded the libe(R)tarian party?

Wanna talk about who founded CATO?

Wanna talk about who's installing tyranny in Michigan?

"Right" this instant?

Probably not, those same people already seem to own you too.

[-] -3 points by OTP (-203) from Tampa, FL 11 years ago

I'd talk about any of em, I dont know who founded any of em. Do you?

So what keeps ALEC going? Would you like to comment on my thread on the corporations that make up ALEC and the people they donate to?

[-] 2 points by shoozTroll (17632) 11 years ago

Nah. Because you don't answer question you can't turn into a political football. It's been your MO all along.

Plus I did answer your question.

Besides I've already told you who founded and runs all of those.

In one of your usual fits of partisanship, you refused to accept even one of them, and resorted to one of your notorious name calling rants.............

The only logical conclusion is that you really do think things go better with Koch........My guess is that they already own Florida and you are blind to it.

[+] -4 points by OTP (-203) from Tampa, FL 11 years ago

The dude you mentioned is dead dude. ALEC is comprised of corporations. Where do those corporation's money go to? Why dont you just state, FOR ONCE, THAT DEMS ARE PART OF THE PROBLEM AS WELL?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dwT8RC0_Ru0

[-] 1 points by shoozTroll (17632) 11 years ago

As soon as you tell me how your campaign to repeal "right to work" is coming along.

As soon as you stop pretending you have the interests of the 99% at heart.

How many Dems do the Kochs own compared to how many (R)epelican'ts?

How much ALEC legislation has been passed by which party over the decades since ALECs foundation?

Being "part" of the problem doesn't mean they share equally in it's inequity.

How many Dems did you say are pushing "right to work" and actively promoting union busting?

Did a Dem sign the papers that insured the death of the largest unionized entity in America?

They are not same, and you have yet to come anywhere near proving it.

You can go back to your usual political rants now, as I know you won't deal honestly with any of this, and I have work to do..

[-] -2 points by OTP (-203) from Tampa, FL 11 years ago

"As soon as you tell me"....

Dodge much?

Dems just signed 3 free trade deals sending more jobs overseas. Completely fucked the unions. So we have the Republicans passing union busting legislation, and the Dems sending all the jobs overseas.

Our TPP meeting this upcoming week will be a good one. Please come to it and declare that the Dems are on our side. That would be great.

The Kochs are simply one player. Both parties are owned by various corporate interests. Who has more influence? Koch bros or JpMOrgan Chase? Cause Dimon is a loyal Dem. I say they are both part of the problem. You only focus on one. Why?

Thats why Occupy came about.

Please contact Angela and tell her that the Walmart walkout was a failure, if thats what you are saying.

[-] 1 points by shoozTroll (17632) 11 years ago

Well at least you left out the name calling....for now.

Should I expect one of your usual insulting PMs?

You never did say how that repeal of "right to work" is going.

Is it because you will enjoy shoving a fledgling union into a pool full of (R)epelican't sharks?

Yes, I do believe it's so.

Get back to your usual partisanship now, I know you want ot.

[-] -2 points by OTP (-203) from Tampa, FL 11 years ago

"shoving a fledgling union into a pool full of (R)epelican't sharks?"

If that is what you think is going on, then perhaps you should help out to find out otherwise.

[-] 1 points by shoozTroll (17632) 11 years ago

"Right to work".

It's a union killer!!!

Gee, who pushed "right to work " in Florida?

Who pushed it in the South?

I know good and damn well who pushed it in Michigan, LYING through his (R)epelican't, Koch sucking teeth "right" up until he enacted it against the voters wishes.

I wish them all the luck in the World trying to start a union in a "right to work" State.

It's the way of ALEC.

Destroying Democracy one State at a time, or all at once.

[-] -3 points by OTP (-203) from Tampa, FL 11 years ago

Well when one party busts unions, and the other ships all the jobs overseas, its pretty damn tough, thats for sure.

Not impossible, but tough. People are waking up. There is always hope.

[-] -2 points by highlander3 (-62) 11 years ago

Interesting. An answer to George Soros?

[-] 1 points by shoozTroll (17632) 11 years ago

What was the question?

Last time I checked, Soros isn't trying to purchase my State, the brothers Koch are close to owning it.

You spend entirely too much time with Mr. Beck.

[-] -1 points by highlander3 (-62) 11 years ago

Not a big fan of either. But it is their own private income.

[-] 0 points by shoozTroll (17632) 11 years ago

That's not a question and it's not an informative statement.

In fact it had Nothing to do with my statement.

Are you a bot?

[-] -2 points by highlander3 (-62) 11 years ago

the koch brothers run a PAC. Just like any number of individuals run PACs for both sides. The Koch brothers have been guilty of a number of environmental infractions, but they have paid the fines and moved on.
For better or for worse, the PACs are a major mechanism in today's political game. Relax. There are PACs for both sides.

[-] 0 points by shoozTroll (17632) 11 years ago

This just flies in the face of every Koch thread on the forum.

Every ALEC thread on the forum.

Didn't yer Mother tell you?

If you don't know what you are talking about, you probably shouldn't say anything at all.

this is one of those times.

[-] -1 points by highlander3 (-62) 11 years ago

If I do not quote from that website and agree with everything said on it, then, yes, I guess I sometimes fly in the face of this forum.

[-] 0 points by shoozTroll (17632) 11 years ago

You also fly in the face of good sense and logic, but I think you already knew that. It's your purpose in being here.

[-] -1 points by highlander3 (-62) 11 years ago

highlander and highlander2 both had the same purpose; and highlander4 ,5, and 1000 will have the same purpose.

[-] -1 points by highlander3 (-62) 11 years ago

My purpose here is to learn. Every fiber of my being tells me that your 1% vs 99% philosophy is flawed; and a big fat mistake if you try to put your people's government into action. But, believe it or not, I am trying to learn. Why do you think this way? Why attack those who contribute the most taxes, the most revenue, into the government kitty?

[-] 1 points by shoozTroll (17632) 11 years ago

What is it you expect to learn by attacking all things you consider liberal?

In answer to your question, because WE paid for everything they do, and the things they do aren't very nice to us.
