TVP is great and I hope we end up in a moneyless community, but the most urgent issue is to get the corruption money out of government.
This will never work. Bartering would be the main platform. We would trade what we grow for services. Those who grow more would get more services and goods. Obama would host a campaign dinner for 30,000 corncobs and then stick them right up our asses.
Gay Pride: The system of a resource economy proposed by the Venus Project has no bartering. Bartering would have no basis to exist as every citizen's material needs would be met. It is distribution that is based entirely on need. Each city has monitoring systems that record how many people are there and calculate how much food is needed.
For other items such as electronic "toys" (iPads, cameras ect..), the distribution centers, which will operate similar to a library will issue these items to anyone that wants them. As new technology is developed, outdated items are returned to the distribution centers to be recycled.
Many services as we know them today would have no purpose to exist in a resource economy. Anything related to finance, banking, marketing and related fields would be gone as there would be no money and the concept financial gain will be irrelevant. That is not to say however, that some people may still choose to provide some type of service. A person that enjoys cooking may still want to operate a cafe. Not for financial gain, but because they enjoy the art of cooking.

What about exploiting animals for food? 56 billion land animals suffer and die yearly to appease our taste for flesh. What does the venus project do about that?

Most studies already say that much but people continue to eat animals, knowing about the detrimental effects on their health. There are also many products that mimic the taste and texture of "real" meat. People continue to exploit animals out of habit, tradition and nostalgic appeal. How different would anything be with the venus project if animals would still be commodified.
Many more people will come to your side when you are proactive (for “new” Business & Government solutions), instead of reactive (against “old” Business & Government solutions), which is why what we most immediately need is a comprehensive “new” strategy that implements all our various socioeconomic demands at the same time, regardless of party, and although I'm all in favor of taking down today's ineffective and inefficient Top 10% Management System of Business & Government, there's only one way to do it – by fighting bankers as bankers ourselves; that is, using a Focused Direct Democracy organized according to our current Occupations & Generations. The FIRST step in Natural Social Law is to CONTROL the Banks as Bank Owner-Voters. If you do not, you will inevitably be UNJUSTLY EXPLOITED by the Top 10% Management Group of Business & Government who have a Legitimate Profit Motive, just like you, to do so.
Consequently, you have no choice but to become Candidates (or Leaders) yourselves as Bank Owner-Voters according to your current Occupation & Generation.

I joined the VenusProject group as a volunteer Systems Analyst & Software Developer. I've also read similar sites such as VictoryCities.com. I have been working on the above Business Analysis needed to create RBE City of 65,000, for the last 27 years as a Marine, Certified Public Accountant, Computer Programmer, and Socioeconomic Analyst.
RBE is a perfectly viable solution, the problem is getting people to FINANCE it's "new" cities, and by people I mean a Home Town Bank of 65,000 Members as Bank Owner-Voters, and therein, as Business Owner-Voters, of an existing Town of 65,000 (which Members can be national, but their Town location can't). Why? Because in order to destroy the existing system (and replace it with an RBE City of 65,000), you must first control that system as Bank & Business Owner-Voters. Why? Because today's Top 1% Management System of Business & Government will NEVER finance an RBE city, for such a city would completely undermine their Wealth & Income, which is 2/3 of all Wealth & Income.

I have 18 people in our group at http://finance.groups.yahoo.com/group/StrategicInternationalSystems ready to form that Home Town Bank of 65,000, and thus ready to finance an RBE city of 65,000.
An RBE city can be built, but you need 65,000 people in a Home Town Bank of 65,000 Members to make it a financial and tangible reality, agreed?

All these miseries happened when the Fed was established. US Federal Reserve Bank is a misnomer and a deception even in its name. US - First it is not a US entity, it is owned by the richest individuals mostly from Europe and a few from America which includes the Rockefellers. Federal again it is not Federal because it is not a government entity, it is private. Reserve - it does not have any reserves. It screws us through cheating by creating money out of nothing. Lastly, Bank - it is not a bank.

floribel: It IS possible to do without a government. But it would involve essentially re-socializing entire nations. That leads to your other comment of how to begin.
I have the same question in my mind and have posed the question to Mr. Fresco as well on my last visit. How do we get from here to there? He responded to me by saying that to start, the current system has to fail and people have to want another solution. Given recent events, this may be underway already.
My personal response comes more from an activist perspective. I believe the first step in any social change is to create awareness. The OWS movement serves this need in some capacity. Beyond OWS, basically I would say you should learn all you can about the Venus Project. Become an expert. From there, work to educate others. Tell your friends and family, participate in discussion groups that focus on social issues, post blogs, build websites, write to news organizations and tell them to do stories on the Venus Project.
It may not seem like much. But, this will take a long time. It is possible that an actual shift away from our current systems and toward a new one may not occur in your lifetime. But, the seeds of change are being planted now by educating others. Continuing this process is our task now.
Technology is the impetus for the dawning of the new era. For the first time all of humanity can instantaneously communicate on a global scale. We can control our birth rate with the use of safe effective birth control. We have the resources to feed and house the world’s population. Most all human suffering is manmade or worsened by greed and lack of empathy. Technology has also given us the ability choose our destiny. We can continue the current trajectory: depletion of resources, growing inequalities and war. Or, we can choose a new way.
The path to enlightenment, equality, and sustenance is attainable with a united movement. Part of that movement is time bank. Time bank is a network of humanity. Organized on line. Completely transparent. All inclusive. Hour in. Hour out. That’s it. No person’s hour is more or less valuable than another.
A worldwide time bank can be started now. With enough participation it can catalyze the transition from the current corrupt monetary system to a society where money is irrelevant and each person is valued. Fear and greed will paralyze this movement. Hope and imagination can propel it.
