Forum Post: The Press Release That Mightt Have Been

Where do you think OWS would be in the public opinion polls if there was less fruitless defiance and more of this?

"The General Assembly has been asked by our elected officials to vacate the park that has been our home for the last two months. We have chosen to cooperate with this request, and will continue this important movement through other means.

We will vacate the park peacefully. We choose not to place police officers, who like us are part of the 99%, in the awkward position of moving against a movement that many of them agree with. We are grateful for their protection these last few weeks. Anyone remaining in the park overnight past (date) at (time) does so in violation of our decision, and does not represent us.

We will remove all of our belongings, and plan to leave nothing behind. As a movement committed to the proper use of public funds, we do not want tax money to be spent on cleaning up our former home.

Our Environmental Sub-group will spread grass seed and fertilizer after our departure, to restore the park to it's pre-demonstration appearance. It is our hope that the green grass next spring will be seen as a Thank You to our neighbors for the use of the park.

We encourage movement sympathizers to intentionally patronize the businesses around the park in coming weeks, hoping to restore some of the income they have lost during our stay.

We are grateful to local authorities for their restraint and bending of ordinances that allowed us to stay in the park to make our important point. We invite millions of others to join us as we move forward to change the world."

One more lost opportunity in a movement that has had many.

Yes this should have happened on 11/11/11 at 11:11:11 for symbolic reasons, it should have included a demand that the cities deploy resources to assist the homeless, it should have been announced by the NYCGA and strongly recommended to all GA's and one more thing; it should have also announced the National General Assembly scheduled for July 4th 2012 in Philadelphia as per the 99% Declaration.

So NYCGA, you missed the boat as confusedoldguy said but you could announce the NGA...

NOW!!! all roads lead to Philadelphia https://sites.google.com/site/the99percentdeclaration/
