The way I see it, theres two options-

Push to get the money out of this political system, and educate people as to whats going on with the banks/fed.

Wait till a collapse happens and try to implement something better.

I just dont see people in this country acting rationally if the sHTF moment occurs.

IAMonetoo was down before so and so and we shall proceed forward, have not even begun to be very far astray. You have not a clue as to where we go do you?

[-] 1 points by peacehurricane (293) 11 years ago

Oh you have not offended me because that will be no option. What does your screenname mean to you, if you do not mind me asking? The point I was to make is that going back is not optional Forward is the motion so start now and go.

Does this even make sense? Are you the iamsoandso or is it someone else. Sites using screen names only have a single person using each name. Who wants the 72.50 and what is it to do with this forum. If you are posting here them is us and even if you were not it would be so whatever you may be more suited elsewhere if as you state are not belonging here. For many of us this is our life such and such as it may be. You separate yourself from OWS this may be contributing to agitation and if you read my posts there will likely be much more to come.

Think about it. Police prepping for civil unrest is probably a good idea. It's just a public issue, not some paranoid move for the cops to implement martial law. Jeez, get a grip people.

[-] 1 points by OTP (-203) from Tampa, FL 11 years ago

Ya, its great the state is focusing on how to deal with the unrest instead of focusing on whats causing it.

[-] 0 points by bigjoe (-117) 11 years ago

Well, I won’t address what the State should do, that’s a whole separate issue. What I’m saying is the police should be neutral. There job is public safety and catching criminals. If training for any kind of civil unrest helps them protect the public, then I support it. Why wouldn’t you?

Theres a difference between serving the public and treating the job as a para-terrorism unit.

OK, you lost me. Are you saying I have the same screen name as someone else? If that's the case I can just create another account with a different name? No?

I'm actually the administrator of this website :) I haven't had a chance to code the "edit" button for forum posts yet, sadly. So until that's done I've been on janitor duty, helping people modify their posts as needed.

signs should be simple and to the point, "democracy, not corporatocracy" or "trickle down my ass" or "banksters stole our government" and they should say things that we want, "Tax high frequency trading" or "Invest in America Again" and "corporations are not people" check out my blog

The other ones are good tho.

[-] 0 points by anonymous () 12 years ago

Really? "Trickle down my ass?" Give me a break...that's more disgusting than anything.

[-] 0 points by anonymous () 12 years ago

I agree, that's gross and dumb. The rest are good.

Crime shouldn't pay, prosecute the bankers. Money + Politics = Tyranny We came to take our country back.

[-] 0 points by anonymous () 12 years ago

Oops, those should be on separate lines, or separated or something. Ah well, you get the point.

From what I remember of WTO people were using rags soaked in baking-soda/water combo to breathe through when the pepper spray came out. Not sure on it's effectiveness as I never had one but rumor has it it helps neutralize part of the acidity...

What -is- our one demand?

[-] 1 points by inkblotpropaganda (8) 12 years ago

From what I'm gathering this single one demand has not yet been defined. I believe this is meant to be the forum to discuss it. From what I can tell the end of corporate legal "personhood" is the strongest contender so it is what I'm bringing up in my posts to see how other people feel about it.

Tactics means something different than goals and objectives. You can't talk tactics until you have a strategy to work towards. But if the strategic goal is anarchy (i.e. nonviolent chaos to shut down Wall Street), then organized tactics just defeat the purpose. Each one of us should protest in his or her own way. We don't want leaders or "organizers" to tell us what to do.

[-] 0 points by anonymous () 12 years ago

The cops beat down protestors the last time we tried a sit-in that blocked Wall Street. I think the one woman's husband is still spoon-feeding her broccoli and cabbage, as we speak. I saw footage of her head getting split. I have a feeling that this isn't going to go well. There is probably a better tactical response, if you want to take over the economy. I'm a learned capitalist, and the only way to "share the pie," so to speak, with these greedy bankers is to beat them at their own game. Blocking Wall St. and collapsing the stock market will only screw things up for those of us that are barely keeping our heads above the water, and those people are really all the chance we've got at taking back the economy. These rich investment banks profit from economic collapse. Trust me, it's not going to do them any harm.

I agree, I do think the most effective and practical angle for the occupation, would be to be to demand either a repeal of a law or institute one that targets corporate power directly. END CORPORATE PERSONHOOD. I don't want to come out from California just to get gased and arrested after an hour. I want real change to structure of corporate imperialism. Lets do this right.

Is it illegal to stand in Manhattan with a pitch fork? I don't think it is.

[-] 0 points by anonymous () 12 years ago

how will everyone be fed????

[-] 0 points by anonymous () 12 years ago

Where are pictures? Why are there no pictures on this site? Also, why don;t you just ask job seekers to take a break from looking for work, especially professionals, to sit down in wall street. They should hold up signs of Corporations with plenty of money for expansion and hiring.

Protesters in Israel usually carry an onion with them to help relieve the sting of tear gas. I'd suggest everybody carry half an onion in a plastic bag. If one person gets violent, the whole place will get gassed by the cops.
