Forum Post: The People Think They Are Free, But Our Society is Just a Giant Cotton Mill Town.

The elite want us to believe the 99% should work till they're elderly! Indebted wage slaves paying into the institutions they've created and obligated us to for life. It's just a more sophisticated version of an ole cotton mill town 100 years ago. You work and the powers that be will extract as much of your wealth as they can back to them. This vicious cycle is designed to perpetuate itself through life.

They create a laundry list of institutions and obligate us to pay into them. Banks, govt, insurance companies, utility companies, energy companies, Wall st, Corporate Healthcare, etc.

Then if you are able to save any money, they want your savings too. With 401k, IRA investments. It goes right back to their institutions. Even that isn't good enough for them! Now they want to take our social security and privatize it. That way Wall st and their institutions have a giant new cash cow to gamble with and skim a percentage off the top. It's a perfect circle of enslavement. All their bills are like giant leeches sucking the life blood and independence from the 99%. They want to control every crumb that you can put on your plate. We are forced to be a consumer of their inferior products. Eating their toxic food, breathing their polluted air, driving their thirsty cars, borrowing from their debt enslaving banks. TPTB have conjured up this artificial society of perverse Domination. The population is indoctrinated to believe they are free. People must wake up, join together and reject this unnatural dystopia. Communities of people must work together to empower and help free ourselves from these shackles of Evil Domination.

We owe. Our government owes. Debt is crushing us all. It's a threat to our lifestyles, if not our lives. The system is such that there's no way out. We cannot earn our way out of debt. All the profit goes to the lenders. The interest we pay cuts into the money we need to survive. The banks and über investors have the power of life and death over individuals and the entire Human Race. They are more dangerous than all the tyrants and terrorists since the beginning of civilization. Why do we allow them to dictate the terms of our existence?

That's a rhetorical question. Without attempting to understand stupidity, we can try to elucidate the mechanisms of debt slavery and point up the ironies of our docile acceptance and even emotional defense of our financial overlords. We can attempt to broaden the debate. The usual suspects are usually questioned only about what can be done within the constraints of our culture, which is dominated by 'capitalist free market' ideology. They speak often about 'outside the box thinking' but don't seem to know that the box itself must be redesigned from without. A real solution that our leaders don't care to see? We can renounce slavery.

Note that Mesopotamian priests and kings of old, like Moses, knew the answer. Regularly or occasionally as needed, all debt was forgiven, all land returned to God [the Earth] and in the case of the Jewish lawgiver at least, all profit on loans, usury, was forbidden.

Why don't we declare a Jubilee? All government debt, all mortgages, all credit card and other personal debt is wiped clean and we start over. Instead of all land returned to God, commercial real estate and property can go to our common holdings. Personal property and the land and house where you live will be exempt. You who rent will then own. The threat to our existence by the greedy will be attenuated.

If the bankers, über investors, rentiers and capitalists complain, then their personal property may also be confiscated and they may be imprisoned for threatening the existence of the Human Race. Otherwise they may be prosecuted as Tory traitors to the American Revolution for robbing the people of money, power, freedom and democracy.

that could be a good idea for real people

we are indoctrinated to pay our debts.

We need places people can live healthy lives without debt.... the problem is to get started, it may take money, or material support.

If these were set up as schools, low interest student loans, could help get the thing started... Still it would be debt, http://occupywallst.org/forum/models-to-transition-to-sustainable-systems-future/

Loan Forgiveness

The maximum repayment period is 25 years. After 25 years, any remaining debt will be discharged (forgiven). Under current law, the amount of debt discharged is treated as taxable income, so you will have to pay income taxes 25 years from now on the amount discharged that year. But the savings can be significant for students who wish to pursue careers in public service. And because you will be paying the tax so long from now, the net present value of the tax you will have to pay is small.

with loan, maybe backed by the Empowerment Zone community, they would get stake in a community, a small home.

We must question the right of anyone to have title to [the money that represents the goods] so much property that we must borrow from them to have the stuff of life. Personal property, home, car and individual business are exempt from seizure. All the rest including all corporate holdings and productive capacity must be taken by and for the people to help assure our survival.

•Telephone bill with bogus FCC Tax that doesn't get sent to the government
•telephone Bill, itemized to facilitate extra increases
•Cable Bill, a contract, usually goes sky high after initial period
•Cable Bill, you pay for the installation of fiber optic cable all over
•Cable Bill, notice how it is itemized to facilitate extra charges
•income tax, notice the financial scheme that tax rebates are for corporations, they get discout rates, you get the bill later
•Internet Bill, there is only one internet, they charge higher for the service you want, but it is just a switch, they don't incur any extra expense by giving you high speed internet.

David Cay Johnston has a book out, all his books teach us about US Corruption, the new book is called "Fine Print" it is about the racket of adding on lines of charges to your contracts or bills.

Do WE really care about the beliefs that are f-ing us and the thinking of people that can do this to fellow humans. I chose long ago to give up in wondering how people behaving badly thought because should I figure it out might end up like them!

there are plenty of taxes that a citizen has to pay, but you can avoid some of them.not everyone has to own a car.in cities, most people dont, which eliminates car insurance and gasoline taxes. if you live in an apartment, you dont pay school ot property tax. what you spend on food is determined by your needs, not everyone has a credit card and many that do pay it off each month not having to pay any interest, you dont have to have life insurance, most people do not have assoc . fees, you can find a bank that has no bank fees, you can avoid sales tax with small business's by paying cash,

Apparently the gist of this post blew over your head, way over it. Of course you could avoid anything on the list, by living in a cave. The point is that society is designed to burden and hinder individuals. Our society does not promote the optimal potential and contributions of the majority of our population.

capitalism does, socialism and communism do not.

Sadly you are wrong. Irrespective of the heavy indoctrination society has subjected you to, capitalism smothers creativity. Understand you are only "repeating" what you have been programmed to think. This clouds your objectivity. Lose your conditioning and you will see clearly.

Here's one example of Capitalism thwarting potential(there are many). Let's take the largest MSM journalism sources. All of them are owned by only a few multinational corporations. They employ 1000's of highly educated, competent journalists. You would think that with these extensive resources, corporate msm journalism would be capable of achieving unimaginable levels of quality. They should be a monument to what is possible in journalism. Alas the opposite is true. Instead, legions of talented journalist are directed by their editors to cover irrelevant, sensationalized news stories(balloon boy, murder trials, O.J., Kardashians, etc). That is only one example of so much potential being squandered by capitalism. Capitalism primarily discourages creative thinking and promotes "Yes men". It is these Yes men who stock the middle and upper levels of management. In the Capitalist workplace, workers are given "projects and assignments" that all too often result in non-productive lost potential. Thus, huge amounts of contributions and potential is squandered. This is only one example why Capitalism will never achieve what is fully possible.

Good luck with that, you fucking moron. Must suck to be YOU...who can't reap the benefits of the worlds greatest society. Somehow Asians can come here, with pennies in their pocket, can't even speak English, and in one generation become millionaires. But the whiny, hand-wringing Twinkle demands he be handed everything for free.

Get a fucking job LOOOOOZER.

I remember this excellent post. Everyone should consciously recognize this is our society and work to free ourselves.

what are you thinking? Besides the taxes (which should be decreased), the bills are for services provided. Now, unless you are capable of generating your own electricity, growing your own food, and building your own home, then you have to pay someone with the skills to get them for you.

"highlander", there is no hope for you. You're one of the dumbed-downed sheeple. Get back in the herd so the wolves can hunt you.
