The so-called Occupy Party has a pretty pathetic "platform".

  • Improve Functioning of the Central Bank.
  • Limit Corporate Ability to Influence Elections.
  • Buffet Rule, higher tax on millionaires (income over $1m).
  • Limit Involvement of Lobbyists in Legislative Process.

Here is some of what we need:

  • Eliminate the Federal reserve system.
  • Eliminate Corporate Ability to Influence Elections.
  • Restore true progressive taxes at pre-1980 rates.
  • Eliminate Involvement of Lobbyists in Legislative Process.
  • Medicare for all.
  • End wars, slash military spending

I think this is a Terrible Idea! We should be working on Issues Not endorsing Politicians, who we all know will say Anything to get elected! It is my understanding they the Occupy Party has endorsed a Politician here in Michigan. I have to tell you that if this Is the case, you couldn't have picked a worse candidate to endorse. If this is what will be coming out of the Occupy Party, I just can't stand behind this group. I think if you are going to endorse politicians in other states maybe you should contact the Local Occupy before making that kind of Decision. I and others in Our Occupy are Not happy that he is now being associated with Us Here. Now we have to send out a press release to let the people in Our State know that We Do Not support this candidate!

Was hoping you could provide some much needed help.

The way you talk, sounds like you are on the game.

This is a good step in legitimizing the movement in the minds of the general public. I hope support for this increases now and in the future because a political party shows organization and seriousness to most people.

We can still work outside of politics on a grass-roots level. We can still work within business on a non-profit level.

To approach from all of these angles and continue to fight in all the ways that our detractors do, would ensure the continued progress, legitimacy and forward momentum of our ideas.

But the occupation party has no real political theory just based of what the movement is fighting for

[-] 1 points by richardkentgates (3269) 12 years ago

i was thinking "NO" party was in order.

Interesting, we'll see if it goes the way of most third parties in the past. My personal choice would have been to run Occupy candidates in Democrat primaries and take some seats that way. Now they may just pull away some votes and get more Republicans in.

I tend to support the idea of the occupy party.

I have also been toying with an idea that maybe we don't need candidates. We can just use consensus and other decision-making efforts through mail and technology, and supply call the candidate "The Occupy Party." I don't know if such an idea would work, but maybe it's a thought.
