Forum Post: The MOST Important Action Occupy can make to Change the Political Mindset of America

Posted 12 years ago on March 6, 2012, 1:25 p.m. EST by BradB (2693) from Washington, DC
This content is user submitted and not an official statement

We need a National Campaign to "Label" the special breed of "New Republicans" that have risen up lately....

These "New Republicans" are not like the older Republicans ....

These "New Republicans" are "Destructionists" ... they wish to destroy anything and everything America has fought for .... '

The MOST Important ACTION Occupy can make in terms of Political Action ... is to LABEL these Idiots and traitors as ;

"THE DESTRUCTIONISTS" ....

It may help divide their party ... and bring back a Congress that cares ....

More labels. Like that will change anything ...

[-] 4 points by BradB (2693) from Washington, DC 12 years ago

negative labels do change people's minds.... if they are pushed enough ... think of "nazi" or "racist"

Women are Sluts, thanks to Slutwalk.

I wish we could remove the negative stigma associated with being "gay", pedophilia, bestiality, etc. People with these desires don't deserve the hate.

[-] -1 points by BradB (2693) from Washington, DC 12 years ago

and you keep promoting the derogatory use of slut also... don't you ?

and you support pedophilia ... huh ?

You dance in the same league as Elaine on Seinfeld and have hairy armpits like Madonna back in the 80's.

Yeah, you're a real planet of the apes jigster.

LOL. No, babe.

[-] 1 points by SmeggitySpooge (78) 12 years ago

Absolutely yes I am correct and yes I am hot enough that even straight men catch themselves wanting to call me "babe".

Why would I lie about any of this, whereas you have many motives to do so?

Pretending that it doesn't exist doesn't change anything either.

[-] 3 points by elf3 (4203) 12 years ago

The most important thing to do to change the american mindset is to show them who they are fighting for and what they are fighting against. Good and rational people don't want to see things like this... http://t0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQzyH9_JBxYcZoHZWxIpFOw16d2UEtuS27gAWZXPZL0ca8r50yW ishttp://i.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2012/images/01/05/cages/lg.04.jpg http://i.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2012/images/01/05/cages/lg.05.jpg http://i.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2012/images/01/05/cages/lg.07.jpg http://i.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2012/images/01/05/cages/lg.10.jpg http://i.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2012/images/01/05/cages/lg.11.jpg http://i.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2012/images/01/05/cages/lg.13.jpg http://i.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2012/images/01/05/cages/lg.15.jpg http://i.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2012/images/01/05/cages/lg.13.jpg http://i.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2012/images/01/05/cages/lg.01.jpg

They will join the cause if they know what it is we are fighting for. Don't forget the 99 percent ... it is one percent who seek to destroy - they have horded the world's abundance and they will pay off everyone including our government to keep themselves in position and protected. I think that we have to be careful of labeling the parties responsible. I think they would label themselves whatever it took to get elected. They're manipulating public perception to get in and stay in. The big things are supreme court appointees, laws made, earmarks, precedent in the courts, amendments all being performed behind the headline grabbing hot button controversial issues. Then while the media is reporting on it ... they make laws or set precedent or stack bureaucracies with prior monopoly corporate board members - that are supposed to "regulate" things. It's these things no one ever hears about that truly decide the fabric of our nation. Corporations make a memo, and they use the government or infiltrate it to enforce their rules and laws upon the people. My boyfriend brought up the point today of the East India Trading Company. The founding father's fore-saw this once upon a time. Citizens are supposed to have the right to dis-band corporations and corporations are not supposed to have the rights of citizenry (especially in my opinion when their headquarters and members may not even be citizens of this nation) technically they've been given amnesty.

[-] 2 points by BradB (2693) from Washington, DC 12 years ago

good post Elf ;)

[-] 2 points by elf3 (4203) 12 years ago

Brad why wasn't the supreme court challenged on the fact that corporate board members might not be citizens? How can they be allowed to give unlimited campaign donations based on "corporate" citizenry if they aren't actually citizens?

[-] 1 points by elf3 (4203) 12 years ago

Thanks Brad - keep up the good work spreading the awareness and posting your compassion and causes

how bout ....

the "New Republicans "All About Me" Party"

[-] 2 points by RedJazz43 (2757) 12 years ago

How about the idiots who would draw us into mindless confrontations with the cops? Or the idiots who would submerge us in the morass of the Democratic Party? OWS is faced with all kinds of challenges, external and internal, the least of which is the Republican Party, about which everyone actively involved in OWS is quite cognizant and in virtual universal agreement. It is the threats about which there is no consensus that are a much greater danger to the movement.

[-] 1 points by BradB (2693) from Washington, DC 12 years ago

RJazz ... currently the Dem party is the easiest to work with .... wish there was a strong "Independent Party" ... we could forget the D's too ... but that is not reality

[-] 1 points by RedJazz43 (2757) 12 years ago

Currently the Democratic Party is the Party of the Commander in Chief of American imperialism and the executive committee of American capitalism. To "work with" the Democratic Party is a sucker's game of working against our interest and against the interest of both OWS and the vast majority. There is plenty to do in OWS without being drawn into a sucker's game of "working with" the Democratic Party, which, as the grave yard of every mass movement for the past 100 years since the days of the Populists, is, in many ways, considerably more insidious than the Republican Party which everyone knows is not the party of the people.

[-] 2 points by ShubeLMorgan2 (1088) from New York, NY 12 years ago

It's a conundrum this Democratic Party. It still "contains" the aspirations of oppressed minorities, union members, single mothers, young people. Some well intentioned people do get active in this party. Then, yes, you are correct, one way or another the hopes and aspirations get sold out, or bargained down, or lost in the shuffle. And let's not forget the Dems are quite the war party, although the right constantly presses them to be more warlike.

[-] 0 points by RedJazz43 (2757) 12 years ago

Without question the best elements in the nation, particularly organized labor, are trapped in the Democratic Party, but that is what it is, a trap, and the very worst thing to befall a small new and militant movement such as OWS would be to fall for such a trap. Fortunately while a substantial number of OWS activists and countless OWS supporters have fallen for this trap, the movement as a movement has not yet done so. The Democratic Party is not simply the war party, it is the quintessential party of American imperialism and American capitalism, all the moreso because millions of its well meaning supporters can't quite believe that is the case.

[-] 2 points by BradB (2693) from Washington, DC 12 years ago

your colors are showing RJz.... let's see ... the Dem's are the war party ?

albeit they are currently taking too much advantage of the circumstances ... but IT was the R's that put us there ... through treasonable lies ... no ?

or did you forget that ?

[-] 0 points by RedJazz43 (2757) 12 years ago

All the evidence is that the Obama administration has considerably increased the war powers of the presidency and shows no signs of dismantling an American empire which was advanced more under Democratic Administrations than was the case under Republican Administrations which were historically isolationist. By no means am I arguing that the Republican Party is a party of the people. Of course it isn't and virtually all progressives and certainly all OWS activists understand this. The illusions lie with the Democratic Party, which is no more a people's party than is the Republican Party. This is hardly a point of view that is peculiar to me personally, but in fact is a view that is shared by the entire anarchist left and most of the socialist left, which is to say virtually all of the initiators of OWS and those who continue to be its key activists.

Be prepared for the confused I don't know what you mean conversation. Then He'll spend forever trying to convince you that he is a good guy just misunderstood is all, and a great supporter of OWS.

Did the jizims mask slip again? OH he hates it when that happens. What happened - did he fail to put you to sleep with his famous verbosity before he slipped the poison into the conversation?

[-] 1 points by ShubeLMorgan2 (1088) from New York, NY 12 years ago

I agree. The Democratic party is a trap. And it is the war party as in WWI, WWII, Korea, Vietnam, allowed Bush to pursue Iraq war by not blocking the $ in Congress as it could have, (and not calling for "pro democracy" demonstrations when the 2000 election was stolen from it), Embracing the Afghanistan war as its own, and now already having committed actions against Iran that could reasonably be called acts of war

[-] 1 points by SmeggitySpooge (78) 12 years ago

Most all come out and say the words often, yet fail to put them together.

R,I,G, D or whatever, the corporate owned DC governance cannot be fixed and actually it's a fool's fancy to remotely consider it as a viable partner.

You all must see this isn't The People's government in any remotely similar form to our long deceased democratic republic. It only mimics the motions providing the illusion for most.

Of course you all see it. That's why it puzzles me so much why so many want to indulge the fantasy of house breaking the school of piranhas swimming in your bath tubs, for those of use fortunate enough to still have a place to bathe.

Follow all the money all the way to where the broken buck stops.

[-] 1 points by BradB (2693) from Washington, DC 12 years ago

maybe the old R... but this New R ... want's to destroy everything that has been fought for the last 200yrs ... they want to dismantle public schools ...dismantle lunch programs ... soc sec.... any subsidized support of any kind... voter's rights ... women's rights.... civil rights ... public property of any kind... bridges, roads... fire depts... Christ !!!! .... where does it end ?

and YOU support that ? ... and YOU say that is better than the D's ???

?

[-] 1 points by RedJazz43 (2757) 12 years ago

The 1% has two parties. By far the most insidious of these is the Democratic Party because it maquerades as a party of the 99%. It is a wolf in sheep's clothing. I personally believe that the 99% needs a party of its own. The Democratic Party is not that Party and of course the Republican Party is not that Party. The difference is that most people know that the Republican Party is not a party of the people but they are very successfully hoodwinked otherwise by the Democratic Party. I don't believe that we are sufficiently well organized to build a real party of the people yet. OWS is our last best hope and all of our energy should be put into that. Perhaps, when, as the home page of this web site says, when we have a GA in every neigborhood, we will be in a position to organize a party of our own.

[-] 2 points by BradB (2693) from Washington, DC 12 years ago

I agree ... almost ....

we need Direct Democracy that supports Independents ... we do not need to support party affiliation & corruption.....

as far as the 1%er's who have committed crime... put them all in jail ... regardless of party...

until then .... we need to help the best party to wipe out the worst.... then we can work on the remaining .... or it will only get worse ....

[-] 2 points by RedJazz43 (2757) 12 years ago

I'm all for helping the best party. Unfortunately we don't have one yet. What we have are lesser evils and lesser evils are still evil.

[-] -1 points by shoozTroll (17632) 12 years ago

(R)eplican't works for me.........:)

I can't consider them Republicans in any sense of the word.

[-] 0 points by BradB (2693) from Washington, DC 12 years ago

shooz, I like (R)eplican't too ....

but it is to difficult for the simple minds to grasp .... they think we are talking about all Republicans ... not just the one's who say "can't" ....

We need to divide their party ... many who grew up Republican do not like how their party is acting either .... an answer that gives them an out ... will definitely help ... an acknowledgement of a "New Republican" who are different from their parents ... help's ....

an acknowledgement of a "Destructionist" in every aspect will cause a division ...

[-] 0 points by shoozTroll (17632) 12 years ago

I will be up to the honest members of that party to come up with the descriptive.

It's nice know that there might actually be a few left among them who realize that meaningful negotiation is necessary for the good of the country.

[-] 0 points by BradB (2693) from Washington, DC 12 years ago

;) I agree .... we DO need a good "descriptive" that might actually restore some Integrity back into the R party ... at least long enough until we come up with the better way ....

[-] 1 points by shoozTroll (17632) 12 years ago

I have asked techjunkie, to help with a better descriptive than (R)eplican't, but he refused to to do so, or even admit to the difference.

Until that that day arrives, I will stick with (R)epelican't.

[+] -4 points by Carlitini99 (-167) 12 years ago

If occupy were honest, they wouldn't be so partisan. The democrats are worse than the republicans in helping financial industry and in government corruption.. But i guess OWS has turned into a democrat tool for useful idiots.

[-] -1 points by BradB (2693) from Washington, DC 12 years ago

we'll get to fixing the Dem's after the R's ... currently the R's are more "destructive"

Call them the "Pro Hate" Republicans:

  • they hate the poor
  • they hate gay people
  • they hate Muslims
  • they hate women, unless those women never have sex
  • they hate non-Christians

etc.

Obama is pretty good at killing muslims (and i salute him for that). But wait this just in.....its ok if democrats hate and kill
