False. The Corporations who have the money to purchase media conglomerates, i.e., the .01% are the most powerful entities on earth.

At least until we, the 99%, inevitably take the power back.

Thats what I've been saying over and over. The media propaganda has 99.999% of Americans in a trance.

Once upon a time the media was held accountable for what they printed but now it is a completely different story. Once science figured out how our minds work in that brainwashing is part of our make-up, they manipulated it to work for the powers that be that directly influence our thinking.

Yes, and it is not just Fox. Take this latest quote from CBS Evening News, apparently broadcast to the entire nation:

CBS NEWS: "the number of protesters is in the HUNDREDS"--jim axelrod ~6:32 pm 11-17

He was talking about Foleys Square!

Focus more on the media, because IT is the MAIN reason the messages are blocked or distorted.

Agree.

It seems Malcolm forgot that the betrayal of one jealous rival can largely undo your good works if you're gone and the only people left get to spread whatever message they want (ie the unhonorable minister Farrakahn) That's why if a REAL organization doesn't spring from OWS, people will just forget about it when the "Citybank Occupy a new Morgage Page" distracts them and people have written OWS off as a bunch of PO'd college kids with no agenda, structure or agenda.

That's why we do not get violent. We gain legitimacy through non-violence. Allow them to beat us on camera and ridicule us for our petitions. They make their own bed... Everyone should make an attempt to film the establishment (police, political figures, whatever...) bad-mouthing us. Assaulting us...

This is going to come as a shock,... There's this thing called intellect. We expect those who lead to have it. I've been at OWS movements,..in the US "Provacation" is pretty much at every rally here. "Provoking Violence" only serves to show that your stupid because A. People then don't care what your message is (as you deserved a beat down) and B. You get your ass kicked to boot. OWS NY yesterday, the police but up barriers so people could get back and forth to the buildings. It's JUST AS MUCH THEIR space as yours. Them going to and fro does not "hurt/make you lose your job/lose money/get in trouble" whereas YOU keeping them from getting to work does. The barriers weren't cruel with razor wire, they just provided a "walkway" OWS'ers are yelling slogans at the cops etc... etc.. won't even get into how much money OWS is costing us in police/cleanups/damage and as soon as the cop walks away a little bit the OWSers start tearing up the barriers. At that point I was ROOTING for the police to hit someone, that's just stupid "look at me I'm important, I'm on TV!! I'll get to tell my college buddies I was a real life protester years from now" BS and teh OWS movement suffers from a metric f*ckton of that kind of behavior. Cops are by and large on edge, pushing them in a situation where there's no need to just shows that you're not responsible enough to carry ANYONE'S message. When this whole thing started I was more on the side of OWS than anyone, but each action/site/post just proves to me that OWS is a 100% lost unsustainable cause.

Currently, most of the media is run or owned by the 1% we're trying to oust. We need a legitimate newspaper that will support us. Relying on the media run by the establishment... CNN makes us look like hooligans running in the streets. We need legitimacy!

But you are hooligans running in the streets. Urinating, defacating and masturbating as well, from what I have heard.

conservative4change - thank you for proving the point of this forum. You are buying in to the propaganda that the corporate-controlled media is slewing about this movement. Tell me, is ignorance really bliss?

[-] 1 points by conservative4change (12) 12 years ago

If I were to believe everything written in this website's "news" stories, that would be ignorance.

And that is why Bloomberg is the most dangerous figure in all of this. The man is the founder of one of the biggest media companies out there - one of the many ways in which he controlls NYC

Good thing the majority of people don't trust the media.

" Sept, 2011-WASHINGTON, D.C. -- The majority of Americans still do not have confidence in the mass media to report the news fully, accurately, and fairly. The 44% of Americans who have a great deal or fair amount of trust and the 55% who have little or no trust remain among the most negative views Gallup has measured."

"The majority of Americans (60%) also continue to perceive bias, with 47% saying the media are too liberal and 13% saying they are too conservative, on par with what Gallup found last year. The percentage of Americans who say the media are "just about right" edged up to 36% this year but remains in the range Gallup has found historically."
