By Cheryl Saban in the Huffintton Post

"Protesters can learn from some of the most courageous, beloved leaders of the past, who knew that to bring about lasting change, the movement is best served if it refrains from using violence, and violent rhetoric. And, humankind would be best served if we never again allow another Witch Hunt."

: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/cheryl-saban/protest-or-witch-hunt_b_1022320.html And this is the Huffington Post which in general is a decent news paper considering the rest!

This is kind of annoying ... Where have the OWS protests been violent? What happened, that this "threat" has deen so amplified?

So far it is the protesters who have been cubbed, pepper sprayed, arrested and harassed.

I would be wondering what would happen if the OWS protesters would insist on their second amendment right like some tea bags during their "revolt" against "Obama care"

This double standard how protesters are depicted in the media is actually very telling about their intentions!

I have been to a total of 4 protesting events regarding the Occupy Movement. I have never felt in any kind of danger. I've seen a lot of women and families - groups not traditionally thought of as being violent. The media isn't capturing the true story.

Sounds to me like someone is trying to start a rumor to scare the average person. Hum, could it be someone against OWS and trying to undermine it's growing power?

Considering police, government, politicians, big business and who knows who else wants to stop OWS not everyone is what they seem. Just remember that. These organizations have deep pockets and some would do anything to OWS.

I have to admit ... it has been a mistake to link this discussion with the huffinton post. this is not about the huffington post ... it just struck me as an example how the media is amplifying this "threat" of violent protesters even if they are in general sympathetic with OWS. We do not have to mention others which are not like FOX or CNN !

Countdown with Keith Olberman has provided regular coverage of OWS, and has been supportive.

Yes ... true ... the Huffinton Post has been sympathetic to OWS. but they are falling to the same trap of scaring the public about the "violent" protesters! Where has there been violence! Since when is civil disobedience violence? It is kind of counter intuitive to celebrate the national memorial for Dr. Martin Luther King and then depict OWS as on the edge of getting "violent".

So if even the "supporters" playing this game it really becomes an issue!

"This double standard how protesters are depicted in the media is actually very telling about their intentions!" No shit! Maybe we should all show up armed and then see how they react.
